    Cappuccino

    rescue
    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Schnauzer / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $250. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application. Rescue Story: Cappuccino aka cap was rescued from Ensenada, Mexico. His family (a couple) put him on the streets because they had a baby and didn't want him anymore. He lived on the streets for a while and, during this time, he was attacked by another dog and lost his leg. The mother of the so called owner took him to the vet for treatment but never returned to claim him. Cap was in dire shape: infested with ticks and fleas, matted, underweight, intact and no leg. The injured leg was pretty much "healed" (not infected) by the time he made it to the vet. He was on antibiotics to treat the infection. Cap did not have a surgery in Mexico when he first arrived at the vet clinic. ARWOB was not aware of Cap until January. At this point, it‘s for Cap's best interest we do not submit him to surgery to have his right leg completely amputated for pure aesthetic reasons. Adopters should be aware Cappuccino still has the right front leg up to the elbow; he does hop on 3 legs and has no problem moving around or going up stairs. Temperament: He was boarded at her clinic for a couple of months until a foster home was found and his infection treated. He is very social with other dogs and people, loves car rides, is crate trained. He barks at cats but is not aggressive towards them. Cap is currently with a foster in the Mira Mesa area and is fostered with 3 other dogs. He likely would be happy as an only dog as well. Moana

    rescue
    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Cattle Dog / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $250. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application. Moana is approx. 2yr old, give or take 6months. She is full grown at 38lbs and could lose a couple of pounds (poor girl... she had been boarding for a month and she REALLY loves her food). She is a bit of a low rider. short, and compact. She has a bit of a cattle dog/Aussie/terrier look to her, but we are unsure of her actual breed. Moana is fantastic with people and would do well with children. She can also be a home protector; she will bark and warn you if someone is by the fence or door. She is crate trained and is not a big barker. She is energetic and a yard or an active adopter is best for her. She is a large breed dog in a smaller body so a family who can enroll in dog training to make sure her leash manners and basic dog obedience like sit and stay are learned. She is a wonderful companion and lives with several dogs, she is great with most dogs as long as they are friendly. She will not do well with an alpha dog. She would also do well as an only dog. Currently she and Angie are good friends. She also is around cats, while supervised, but would likely not leave unsupervised. She does well in car rides and would also do well in agility as she can jump! Update: All of Moana's pups have been adopted and now it is Moana's turn to find the forever home of her dreams. Just look at that face of hers...she is as sweet as she looks! If you are interested in adopting Moana, please submit a dog adoption application online. Nothing will make her happier than finding her forever family. DOG ADOPTION APPLICATION If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. The very pregnant mom of these 4 pups was found by a local rescuer as a starving stray in the streets of Tijuana by a local rescuer mid-october 2018; a few days after her rescue, she gave birth to a litter of 9 puppies. These adorable siblings are your typical happy, sweet and loving puppies with fun and outgoing personalities! They love everyone and everything and, like all puppies, they are playful, inquisitive and full of energy. They are just discovering the world and what it means to live in a house with humans, so they are still learning the ropes and will need a family who can patiently teach them all the skills they will need to be well-adjusted companions. Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Schnauzer / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application. Finnick is a young adult schnauzer mix who was rescued from Ensenada, Baja, Mexico back in December. He had terrible neck wounds and it wasn't determined if it was a burn, an embeded collar or wound from an attack, however he has since healed and the scars are not visible since his hair has grown back. This sweet boy is playful, but mellow. Finnick is crate trained and does well with dogs, he is a little indifferent to them, and will play with some, while avoiding others. He prefers to play alone or with people, his favorite toy is a tennis ball, he loves to fetch, but isn't the best at retrieving, ha ha! He would be happy as an only dog, but would be happy to share a home with other dogs too. He is a little reserved with strangers, but quickly warms up to them with a few treats and lots of attention. He is not fully house trained and an adopter will need to have time to do some training like house training and basic things like sit, stay, etc. He rarely barks when he is outside in the yard playing, and is not a barker inside when he is in his crate. He loves to follow people around in the house. To meet Finnick, submit a dog adoption application today! arwob If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. Trudie

    rescue
    Breed: Border Terrier-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Border Terrier / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $250. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application. Meet Trudie! Trudie was relinquished from a local San Diego shelter where she was under socialized, but we could see she had a LOT of potential, so we agreed to find her a forever home! She is a little nervous in new situations, but in the right environment she opens up pretty quickly. Trudie is a very smart dog and well behaved, but still needs guidance from humans especially regarding trust issues. She seems to trust women more than she does men, although she does well with men she knows. Realistically, there are certain people who she doesn't trust and takes longer to warm up to. Because of this, the ideal home is a family with no young children (although teens would be fine). Trudie needs an experienced and savvy dog owner who will work with her and understands when she feels intimidated. She seems to be the kind of dog that needs her space when she is in new situations, so it’s best to let her seek attention — she is definitely not an “in your face” kind of dog. Her adopter must be able to read her body language when going out and about because Trudie can feel intimidated if she is approached suddenly. Once Trudie starts to feel confident and warms up to her humans, she loves to seek attention and belly rubs! Trudie enjoy being quiet in her crate and relaxing, but she is also very fond of an active life style, such as talking long walks, hiking, and going to the dog park. She does well in the car and is leash trained. Trudie has been making excellent progress with her foster family. Here is what her foster mom has to say about Trudie: In the past few days she has started running around the yard and playing with my dogs. Trudie is still a little unsure of Charlie inside the house but she no longer lunges at him. She is eating great and has a good recall especially when I have treats! She has had a strong reaction to a few visitors, but after a few visits and a few walks, she has improved significantly. I took her to the Harvest Festival and she did better than I expected. She was confident walking around the event and even let a few men give her treats. I warned them ahead of time not to try and pet her and they didn’t push it. In just 2 weeks time I can already see a difference with her, but I know to take it slow and I’m always aware of what’s going on when we are out and about. All things considered I’d say Trudie is doing very well. She’s really no trouble at all and is fitting in to the household. If you would like to give Trudie the love and forever home she deserves, please fill out an online adoption application right away! She would love nothing better to become part of the family. This sweet girl was rescued in Tijuana while searching for food, trying to survive in the streets. She approached a volunteer and is now ready for adoption! Dori is fostered in San Diego and has lived with both dogs, cats and children. She has an amazing sweet personality and this is what her foster family has to say about her: 09/20/18 We have truly enjoyed Dori! You can tell that her mission in life is to make those around her happy. And she does. What dog actually SMILES?! She loves to go for walks, car rides or out for dinner on a patio (our first night we took her to Senor Grubbys in Carlsbad and she Loved the attention). She adores kids and has had a blast playing with our 2 dogs. But where she is most happy is curled up on your lap at the end of the day on your favorite sofa chair taking an early snooze. :) so, whether you want an adventure dog or a cuddle dog, this dog is the best of both worlds. Breed: Chihuahua-Unknown Mix

    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $250. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application. ***** COURTESY POST ***** Gertie is NOT an ARWOB rescue and is under the care of another SD rescue group. We are helping network Gertie in the hopes we find the RIGHT temporary or forever family for her. The adoption process is the same and in order to meet her we require an adoption application to be submited online for review. Below is a little about Gertie. Please, read about her to determine if she is a good potential candidate for you and your family. Thank you Gertie is a 1 ½ year old Chihuahua mix. She was trapped after surviving weeks in the backcountry of San Diego. She and her brother Coby are believed to have been dumped. Neither was chipped or altered. No owner came forward or claimed them. While trapped separately, they were often seen in similar areas, during the same time frame. Though finally caught in different locations they immediately cried and wagged their tails upon seeing each other. Gertie is a super sweet, shy and submissive girl. She seeks attention and enjoys the company of people once you gain her trust. She is quick to show you her tummy and would love nothing more than to just hang out and snuggle. She does well with other dogs but is shy so a confident and stable mellow dog would be her best fit. She needs continued confidence in new situations, with new dogs and people so requires an owner willing to take introductions slowly. She would love to find that family willing to make her theirs forever and teach her how to be the best dog she can be. Breed: Australian Shepherd-Unknown Mix

Posted Breed: Australian Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 250.00. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application. Looking to adopt an Aussie? If you are applying to adopt Cooper, we request you THOROUGHLY read this detailed and long bio to KNOW who Cooper is and what kind of adopter we are looking for him. Thank you! and check out his videos! Meet Cooper! Cooper was adopted from ARWOB back in 2015 when he was 5 months old. At the time he was adopted, he was a happy, loving, well behaved typical pup. He was full of shenanigans like most puppies, but he got along with all animals and people. A fantastic pup! Sadly, Cooper’s owners have relinquished him and he came back to ARWOB in September of 2017. He is now a full grown typical Aussie mix with a few trust issues towards strangers. We are seeking an experienced dog owner that has knowledge of Aussie personalities to keep Cooper mentally stimulated and physically active, and out of trouble! The ideal adopter will be a house WITHOUT children and preferably without cats. However, we do think he will be fine with children who are respectful of dogs and supervised. Cooper always says hi to children when out on walks or if they approach to pet him. Of course, this applies to the children who say hi in a none threatening manner. like most dogs Cooper will not tolerate a child pulling at his tail or approaching him inappropriately. He has lived in a home with multiple dog savvy cats and he will walk around them in the living room but his Foster notes he will try to take advantage of the cats who aren't supervised or cornered in a room of the home without direct supervision. For this reason, a home without cats is best Unless the home has a particular set up like his current Foster. When Cooper came back to us in September, it was because he nipped a friend who entered the previous owners' home, gotten to a chicken in the yard, as well as dog aggression, we didn't know what we were going to expect. We were pleased when we received Cooper and realized this guy is an amazing dog with just a few quirks — he needs a steady, safe, and structured home in order to build his confidence around strangers and new situations. WHO is Cooper as of 01/2018 Cooper is a 48lb dog who could lose 2-3 lbs. Cooper seeks to be loved. He melts in your hands when petting him and loving him. His smile is infectious when he meets new people who want to pet him, and he loves attention! He is SMART... oh, SO very smart! He has basic training like sit, stay, shake, and other easy basic commands. He is house and crate trained. He has never had an accident in the house. He doesn't destroy things, but he loves his toys. He loves food but is not a food hound., and he loves walks and car rides. He loves to cuddle in bed and is total love bug. He is not a big barker and the only time he barks is when hints are going around his home or if warning about something. He also is not a yappy dog when people enter the home or when he walks ei no leash reactivity, BUT there are certain situations and people or scenarios that will get him riled up and his new adopter will need to be observant to be able to avoid issues for example: when walking him and he encounters construction crews or gardners, also UPS trucks or motorcyclea, and scooters. He tends to get excited and bark at those when they go by. Cooper is great with dogs. He has lived with his Foster since he came to Arwob in September and there have been many dogs from different breeds, ages, and size. Cooper is good friends with many and with some it takes a little to come around, but he doesn't start or look for fights. He knows when a dog is alpha or a strong personality and he, too, can be growly with that introduction and easily correctable. Puppies or dogs who have no boundary concept and are in his face being "licky face" he will not tolerate and growl or try to snap, but if you correct the other dogs and they present themselves well, he will test them and slowly, over the period of couple of days, moves on. He, then, doesn't care that they do that and eventually, depending on the dogs personality, he will play with them. His BFF is Benny, the 25 Doxie shep mix, and Daphne, the 55lb black lab mix. He tends to share toys and likes to play keep away or tug of war wth people or dogs. Cooper is NOT a dog park dog. He needs further training and an adopter who will be willing and absolutely interested in signing up with a dog trainer/behaviorist to make sure a dog trainer assesses him and his new family to train BOTH parties on what is good and not. Cooper is an out of this world, easy loving, playful. smart, excellent companion, but he is NOT for everyone so he needs someone who knows how to handle a dog on the otherside of the leash....someone who is looking for an amazing companion in a dog , but not necessarily Mr Popularity. Any adopter is welcome to meet him and possibly have a trainer assess him to make sure he is the right match for you. Even better, Foster to adopt him for a month before you make the lifetime commitment. We love Cooper and someone is truly missing out on this amazing dog! Don't be scared and give him a chance. He is easier than you think, but work needs to still be done. We will request adopters show proof of enrollment with a trainer in order to adopt him. Good adopters understand the importance of structure and leadership... especially on working dogs and SMART dogs! We are in immediate need of a foster home for Cooper or a potential adopter that would like to take advantage of our foster-to-adopt program.
