    George

    Breed: Anatolian Shepherd
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd / Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Adoption Fee: 300.00. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant. George is a very handsome fellow, but he doesn't know it. His foster says he is on the more laidback side, but loves trotting around with his nose to the ground, smelling the great outdoor scents. He would be an ideal hiking buddy. Do YOU like the outdoors? George LOVES the outdoors. Camping, jogging, just long walks in the woods would make his day. Both of you could get fresh air and exercise together. His foster also says he has an amazingly soft fur coat. All the better to pet him! We have helped him in his quest to find an individual or family who will love him as much as he will love them back by getting him a thorough vetting, with all his shots, too. If you are ready for a new best friend, think GEORGE! If you are interested in George, please contact: rorrcaninegmail *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***

    Ellie

    rescue
    Breed: Anatolian Shepherd
    Sex: Female Female
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 450. PLEASE NOTE: GPMR communicates primarily by email. If you have any questions regarding one of our Mastiffs, please read their bio and if you still have questions- drop us an email at infogreatplainsmastiffrescue . If you have questions about our adoption procedures, please go to our Pages of Interest on the left hand column under "Adoption Info." We answer email inquiries almost immediately-usually always within a few hours and phone calls are returned with 24-36 hours. GPMR does not have a shelter. All of our dogs are kept in loving foster homes. We must have a completed adoption application on file before meeting any of our mastiffs. GPMR adopts to the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana and parts of Colorado. !!!Any mastiffs being adopted out of the state of Oklahoma require a health certificate to be paid for by the adopter!!! Meet Ellie! She was found laying in a ditch on a rural road in TX. She was emaciated, covered in wounds and had a large, open wound with bone exposure on one of her back legs that was severely infected. Thankfully she tested negative for heartworms. We treated her for fleas and intestinal parasites which are common for dogs who have been wandering. Thanks to the quick help of our veterinarian, we were able to treat Ellie's wounds and now they are all healed up. We consulted with an Orthopedic vet for her leg injury as we suspected there was some damage to the joint. He did agree that the joint looks damaged but since she's gradually starting to bear weight on that leg more and more, he doesn't think she will require any surgery. It will never be a normal leg, but it's functional for her and she gets around on it pretty well. She can run and play in the yard. We'd love a home with carpet and she can slip on the tile if she gets too active. She likely will need to have occassional anti-inflammatory medication if she over-does it and gets sore. Ellie is either a full Anatolian Shepherd, or an Anatolian/Mastiff mix which is sometimes called an American Mastiff. She definitely had much more of the Anatolian traits and we'd love to find a family with experience with this breed. Given that Ellie had been wandering for who knows how long, she can sometimes be timid in new situations. Getting in the car can be a challenge but she's learning and understanding that vet clinics are not all that scary after all. Ellie could be placed with kids ages 6 and up. She is doing great with the dogs in her foster home but she's not terribly social with dogs outside of her pack. We don't know how she would do with cats at this time. Ellie is continuing her rehabilitation which is just gradually getting her stronger on that leg. She would love a family who can take her for daily walks. She is ready for adoption, please submit an application for her today! Ellie is being fostered in Guthrie, OK. Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!

    Breed: Anatolian Shepherd
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd (medium coat). RubyRed was seen running around a rural area with her littermates. Some kind folks tried to find their home, but discovered they were an unwanted litter and weren't being cared for or cared about. RubyRed was shy but was rescued! She now has regular meals and foster siblings and gets along very well with her pack. We would like to see her have a companion dog who can help show her the ropes and help her continue to come out of her shell. We estimate her birthdate was August2018. This pup is beautiful and will be a loyal companion to her family and fursibling(s). Because we are foster based, we require an approved application before a meet and greet can be scheduled. We think that is fair to our fosters so every meet and greet has the potential to result in an immediate adoption. The application is available as a PDF on the rescue website and can be emailed as a document or photos. We work with many rescues and strive to find every rescue in our care a great home. Sometimes that means transferring that pet to another location where adoption may be more likely. If you are interesting in meeting any of our pets, the process is to complete an application. It can be downloaded as a pdf document from our website and submitted by email to WindyRidgeRescuegmail as a scanned document or as photos. Because we are foster based, we require an approved application to schedule a meet and greet. We feel that is fair to our fosters and rescues so every meet and greet can result in an adoption. Adoption fees are negotiable but our goal is to break even on a pet's medical expenses, although we know that will be the exception and not the case most of the time. Average adoption fees in the area range from $175 up to $450. As with every rescue, our resources are limited and the need for rescue help is unlimited. Your generosity helps us to rescue more. Adopting or fostering for a rescue frees up a space where a new rescue can reside. If you can't adopt or foster, than please consider donating.

Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd (short coat). Hercules is a Great Pyrenees, or GP/Anatolian mix. He is currently with a foster. Approximately two years ago, Hercules' owner died in her house. Hercules was found guarding her body and had to be persuaded to allow the EMTs to remove her body. Hercules sometimes does not like male dogs, but absolutely loves female dogs. He is very loyal and has so much love to give. He wakes up so happy and grateful every day!

    Tonya

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Anatolian Shepherd
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd (medium coat). Tonya is an active dog who enjoys going for walks. She also loves to romp around with her many toys and to take dips in her swimming pool. She loves to play fetch, to do nosework (a fun search and scenting sport for dogs) and to play tug as well. Tonya has enjoyed play group time with other dogs at the Sanctuary, but she is currently unable to live with other dogs here due to her tendency to guard things like her water bucket, pool and the gate of her yard. During her assessment at Dogtown, she also guarded a high value treat from people. Tonya will need to find a home with a secure yard, as she has escaped from a four-foot fenced yard in the past. Although she has hip dysplasia, she is very strong and will chase small animals like lizards on walks. At the Sanctuary, Tonya is working on loose leash walking and being calm for harnessing. She is also learning to stay calm at feeding time. Tonya would make a great adventure buddy for someone. She'd be a great hiking partner, especially if you enjoy hiking near water.

    Breed: Anatolian Shepherd

Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd (medium coat). Bonded Pair: Anatolian Shepherds Nicky & Sonny PLEASE READ FIRST: We require physical home checks as part of the adoption process. As such, we do NOT place dogs outside of the Southern California area, nor will we ship dogs to other parts of the country, please do not ask. These 2 gorgeous Anatolian Shepherds are a bonded pair rescued from the shelter. Female Nicky weighs about 80 lbs, is 2 yrs old. She is shy at first, but will warm up when she's comfortable. Only has eyes for Sonny. She is completely bonded with him and is more social and trusting in his presence. Sonny is about 3 years old. He weighs about 90 lbs. He is friendly and easy to handle. Does well with other dogs. Both do well with small dogs. They would do best if they stayed together. They need a large yard and people that love them. They are not ranch dogs that guard animals and property as they would rather be with their people but can certainly hang out at a ranch and are comfortable around animals. They play well together, are crate and leash trained. They would enjoy a yard, and would be great hiking/camping buddies. Kids over six are good, no cats please. These are exceptional dogs. Please consider giving them a chance. If you would like to meet Sonny and Nicky, please contact us to ensure they will be at adoptions.
