Posted Breed: Alaskan Malamute (medium coat). MAX Breed: Alaskan Malamute / Adoption fee is $150 / Sex: Male / Age: Approximately 6 yrs old / Weight: Approximately 71.6 pounds Max is our big handsome love bug and is very affectionate and sweet to all the volunteers. He will be a very loyal and loving companion and will lay in your lap and let you rub his belly for hours. Max was living with a female malamute when he first came to the rescue and got along well with her. However, he has shown guarding behaviors during meal times. He has not been in group housing with other dogs so we are unsure if he gets along with both males and females. He may do best in a home with a similar size female. Soft and cuddly, he would rather curl up beside you on the couch instead of doing something active. He doesn't like to be alone and will whine when he's by himself. Max enjoys going on walks and getting to play in the Pet Angels park. Max has been living in a large indoor/outdoor kennel with trips to the park for exercise. He has not attempted to jump our fence in the park however we require a secure yard and fence for our northern breeds. Max has not been cat tested but malamutes tend to have a prey drive. Overall, Max has been a well-behaved boy who wants nothing more than to snuggle with people and be loved on. NORTHERN BREEDS: All of our Husky/Northern breeds require a home visit to check for appropriate fencing and, if needed, to offer tips on containment. You can quicken your adoption process by sending us some yard pics, focusing on the fence lines, when you submit your application. Please keep in mind if you want to own a husky or malamute you will need to be open to the fact that containing this dog may require you to install a hot wire system (cost is approx $100) this is quite often needed to prevent digging, climbing or chewing through fences. A hot wire is typically the best route to start with for proper containment and peace of mind. Some of our dogs will require this fencing method, prior to adoption, knowing they have a history of escaping and will either jump or climb over your current fencing. For most yards installation of a hot wire is simple and can be done in under 2 hours. Northern Breeds are beautiful dogs but can have challenging personalities. They can be demanding and very destructive by chewing or digging and if not exercised they may be hard to contain when their needs are not met. Please learn a little more about the breed on our website Home Page. Pet Angels has a number of northern breeds available for adoption and you can see them all by visiting www.petangelsrescue.org. Max has had his age appropriate vaccinations brought up to date with Rabies (4 m & older), heartworm tested (4 m & older) and/or started on prevention, basic dewormer, spayed or neutered and microchipped by 24Petwatch with free registration that also comes with 30 days of free 24Petwatch Pet Insurance Important: Please do not use the "Adopt/Contact Me" buttons generated by the Adoptable pet websites, read details below: You can submit an Adoption Application by clicking our logo button below (if visible) or by visiting www.petangelsrescue.org to start the adoption process. More About Alaskan Malamute Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

ENZO Breed: Labrador Retriever & Husky Mix / Adoption fee is $100 / Sex: Male / Age: Approximately 3 - 4 yrs old / Weight: Approximately 65 pounds Enzo is a fun loving Huskador and is a good mix of both breeds. He is a handsome and stunning boy that will steal you heart in no time flat. He is active and fun and has a great skill at catching treats in the air. Enzo did get the husky skills of being a roamer so he will need a home with a secure yard and appropriate fencing. Enzo does ok with other dogs but is best matched with a neutered male or a female dog of similar size. He does show a decent prey drive so he wouldn't be good around small pets/dogs under 25 lbs or very submissive dogs or cats. Enzo would love a home that's as active and fun as he is. Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog-Redbone Coonhound Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Redbone Coonhound / Catahoula Leopard Dog / Mixed (short coat). MOLLY Breed: Redbone Coonhound & Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix / Adoption fee is $100 / Sex: Female / Age: Approximately 3 yrs old, DOB 12/17/14 / Weight: Approximately 50 - 55 pounds Molly is a sweet girl that was actually adopted from Pet Angels as a puppy. She was returned to the rescue at a year old. As a puppy, her previous family was unable to use training methods to address oncoming behavior problems. Instead of working with her, it developed into something they were not interested in addressing. So the family returned Molly 1 year later with a label as "not good with kids". Molly has since settled in well at the rescue, though she can be a little nervous with new surroundings and people. Molly's caregivers at the rescue have been working with her by taking her places to get her more adjusted and less fearful. She is a young, sweet girl and is making great progress due to her sweet personality, but will continue to need consistent, relationship-based training. In Molly's first year of life she was never well socialized with people or dogs and became nervous in new places. She developed resource guarding with chew bones and her food. She is good with other dogs, but due to the issues in her previous home, she will do best in a home without young kids. If Molly goes home with a person or a family willing to work with her, she will surely blossom into the dog that she is meant to be. Molly has had her age appropriate vaccinations brought up to date with Rabies (4 m & older), heartworm tested (4 m & older) and/or started on prevention, basic dewormer, spayed or neutered and microchipped by 24Petwatch with free registration that also comes with 30 days of free 24Petwatch Pet Insurance Important: Please do not use the "Adopt/Contact Me" buttons generated by the Adoptable pet websites, read details below: You can submit an Adoption Application by clicking our logo button below (if visible) or by visiting www.petangelsrescue.org to start the adoption process. LUNA Breed: Agouti Alaskan Husky / Adoption fee is $150 / Sex: Female / Age: Approximately 3 yrs old / Weight: Approximately 50 pounds Luna is an exotic and beautiful dog who loves every person she meets. She is affectionate and will lean in for attention and love for as long as you will give it to her. Luna will bond deeply with whoever gives her attention and would do best as an only dog or possibly with another similar sized male dog. She does do well with other dogs at the dog park. Luna prefers people over dogs so when someone is paying attention to her she prefers to have you all to herself. She doesn't like to share her toys and guards her food bowl, and she really doesn't like it if you start paying attention to another dog. Luna will not do well in a home with another female dog because she is an alpha. However she lives at the rescue in a dormitory with several other dogs and does well with them until someone is paying attention to her and then she will growl to keep the other dogs away from you. Luna would make a great running or hiking partner and needs an active home that understands the husky working breed. She is calm and well behaved but willI need a secure yard and fence like most huskies. Luna is smart and receptive and would do great with someone that can provide guidance and training to help her with over protection. She is a playful and active girl that loves to swim and chase squeaky balls. Luna was not scared by the loud noises on the fourth of July so she is not easily alarmed. Despite her wanting all of your attention, she does play well with the other dogs so trips to the dog park would be great. Luna has been at the rescue for too long and would make someone a great companion. She is loving and is ready for a new family to call her own. Would you be that family? BANDIT Breed: Shepherd & Cattle Dog Mix / Adoption fee is $100 / Sex: Male / Age: Approximately 3 yrs old / Weight: 65 pounds Bandit is a handsome boy who loves the people here at the rescue so we let him hang out in the lobby to be with the volunteers and greet people when they come to visit. Bandit is smart and knows some basic commands like sit and shake and would be quick at learning additional commands. He is an energetic boy and would do best in an active home with someone who can give him regular exercise. Bandit is a very fun boy to be around and can definitely liven up a room or your whole home. Sadly, Bandit suffered an injury before coming to live at Pet Angels, that paralyzed his tail and the muscles that control using the bathroom. Our Pet Angels caregivers have taken Bandit to two vets and both have found no medical solution that will cure his condition. His bladder will fill and sometimes leak when he is laying down. He uses a doggie door in his room at the rescue and will go outside mostly to potty. She has not lived around a cat and has not been cat tested. She is not in the care of Pet Angels Rescue, however Pet Angels offers courtesy listings so that a dog can stay in their current home with the goal of not having to go to a shelter, before rehoming occurs. Please note that due to Hopper not being in our rescue's care we can't confirm, although we require, that courtesy pets must be current on all vaccines, and spayed or neutered prior to Pet Angels listing the pet as a courtesy. Any additional medical needs discovered after adoption will be at the expense of the adopter. Since this is a courtesy listing and not a Pet Angels Rescue dog we encourage you to take this dog to your vet to receive a test for heart worms and any other possible internal parasites as well as obtain an update on vaccinations if needed. We require the current caregiver to provide proof of rabies vaccination and confirmation the pet is spayed/neutered and any other medical records at the time of adoption. Breed: German Shepherd Dog-Siberian Husky Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Siberian Husky / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat). LUKIS Breed: German Shepherd & Husky Mix / Adoption fee is $75 / Sex: Male / Age: Approximately 4 - 5 yrs old / Weight: Approximately 54 pounds Lukis is a gorgeous boy with a very sweet and shy nature. He can be a bit cautious at first, with new people, but will warm up once you gain his trust. Lukis is also a calm, loving boy who has been good with the other dogs at the rescue. He stays alert and watchful and will bark like a shepherd if he hears something in the yard. Lukis can be fearful with strangers at the adoption center. However, he does well with Pet Angels volunteers that he sees weekly. Lukis has not been cat tested but huskies do have a prey drive. He does fine in his secure yard with a 6ft fence and hasn't tried to escape. He is a well behaved boy who wants nothing more than to be loved and adopted. Lukis has had his age appropriate vaccinations brought up to date with Rabies (4 m & older), heartworm tested (4 m & older) and/or started on prevention, basic dewormer, neutered and microchipped by 24Petwatch with free registration that also comes with 30 days of free 24Petwatch Pet Insurance Important: Please do not use the "Adopt/Contact Me" buttons generated by the Adoptable pet websites, read details below: You can submit an Adoption Application by clicking our logo button below (if visible) or by visiting www.petangelsrescue.org to start the adoption process.
