Posted Breed: Poodle (Standard) (long coat). Adoption Fee: $350. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Whitley is intelligent, active and confident. Date into Rescue: Originally came to us 02/21/2011, was adopted, and then returned to us 07/2016 when Whitley started displaying resource guarding Reason for being in rescue: Originally an owner surrender due to not receiving enough attention, but came back to us due to her resource guarding. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Yes - she resource guards. This is a manageable behavior. Learn more here: http://www.patriciamcconnell.com/theotherendoftheleash/resource-guarding-treatment-and-prevention . We have been successful in breaking her resource guarding habits of objects by "trading up" - meaning we distract her with something else to take her mind off of what she is guarding. Whitley was returned because she bit the owner and her adult son. The bite to the owner occurred when she tried to take away a piece of chicken from her. (It had bones in it, so the owner persisted, even though Whitley had growled and then showed teeth.) The bite to the son occurred when Whitley ran out an open door. He grabbed her by the hips to stop her, and she whirled around and bit him. (We do not know if this was a reflex reaction or intended bite.) Weight: est 54 lb Height: est 22 in Adoption Fee: $350.00 Spayed/Neutered: Yes Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Whitley needs an adult only home. She loves and is great with men and women, but she is not good with children. Whitley needs a home with a dog savvy person, someone confident in their dog handling skills, because Ms. Whitley is going to push the envelope and see what she can and cannot get away with. Once she is made aware that that behavior is unacceptable and wasn't going to be tolerated, she behaves like the good dog we know she can be. She needs regular exercise to help burn off her typical standard poodle energy. She loves to run in a fenced yard then go for a walk - in that order, so she's better with her leash walking. While Whitley can be around dogs when she is outside and has lived with another dog previously, we are recommending that she be the only dog in her home to avoid any potential issues related to her resource guarding. What is my personality like? Whitley is very intelligent and loves interacting with people. She does great with positive reinforcement training and has learned a long list of commands. Whitley is also confident, inquisitive and active. She loves to take walks and "explore" the world. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly. Other tips and tidbits: Whitley came to us with a fear or mops and brooms. She's gotten better around these objects while in our care, but does have moments where she'd just rather not be around them. Whitley is HIGHLY food motivated. She will do nearly anything for food! Whitley is good with being groomed and stands nicely on the grooming table. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

Date into Rescue: 12/7/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release; owner no longer had time for him. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None noted Weight: Estimated 50 lbs, needs weight gain Height: 25" at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $349 Fence needed? Not needed but I would love one. What kind of home would be best for me? I would do best in a home that enjoys play and interaction. I love to be loved. I need plenty of play time! I also want to be king of the castle so no other dogs or cats please. What is my personality like? Where do I start? My name is Ricky, I am 10 years old, but I do not show it one bit. I love to go outside, chase balls and play tug-a-war just like any other puppy would. I'm goofy as can be and know how to keep a smile on humans faces. I walk great on a leash and know how to sit but sometimes I can get easily distracted. I can co-exist on the street or in classes with other dogs but I am possessive of my toys so I'd rather not share my home ande my stuff. I am never a problem with humans - what is mine is yours. I also tend to get a little too curious about animals a lot smaller than me including cats. How do I act when I first meet new people? People? OOOHHH I love people! The more people to love the better. Other tips and tidbits: I was an owner release to the rescue because my previous owner realized that he did not have enough time for me and traveled too much. Maybe now I can find my perfect match of home. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Ricky appears to be trained. Some behavioral issues per previous owner - needs training and guidance, prefer an only dog home Weight: Estimated 40 lbs Height: Estimated 22 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? Yes, I am full of energy and need plenty of room to bounce around. What kind of home would be best for me? I would do best in an adult only home with owners that are experienced with headstrong, energetic poodles. I would greatly benefit from extra training. Since I need to work on my training, it would be best for me to be the only dog in my home. I am totally fine with cats - I pretty much ignore them. What is my personality like? You can just call me Mr.Personality. I prance around this place like I own it! Confidence is key. What led me to the farm is my previous owners could no longer deal with some of my behavior issues. They sent me to a trainer- I did well with her.. but once back in my home environment I took 2 steps back. I can be reactive towards new people and mainly dogs but the longer I am here at the farm, the more I improve. I have had interaction with a standard poodle like me and we did just fine together. I am extremely athletic, I could run until the cows come home! Give me a football and the outdoors and I am as happy as can be. Food and toys is what motivates me, I will nearly do anything for those. I know my basic commands but since I am so bouncy it can be hard to get me to concentrate. I really need a home where my wild spirit and energy is welcomed with opened arms. And remember - in poodle years I am still a puppy. How do I act when I first meet new people? I bark at new people but with a few treats and patience It will be no time before I am leaping towards you for attention. Other tips and tidbits: I was released to CPR due to me being aggressive towards new people and other dogs in previous home. I've met so many people here that I am starting to understand there are a LOT of people in this world and I don't need to bark at them all. A perfect day for Baxter includes lounging in front of the fire and roaming his yard with his family. He prefer: a relaxed environment where he can become comfortable at his own pace. Baxter can share his home with another calm dog, cats, or older children. If your family is looking to help an older dog work his way through life, then you might be the perfect match for Baxter. Breed: Poodle (Standard)
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Poodle (Standard) (medium coat). Say hello to Valerie! Valerie is a female Poodle that is at least 10 years old and weighs 16 pounds, but needs to lose one pound. Valerie is back with LuvFurMutts due to no fault of her own. Valerie is fantastic about being potty trained. She has had no accidents in her foster home and is kept on a schedule. Valerie is most likely cate trained but she does not need to be kept in a crate. Valerie is okay with some dogs but would prefer to be the only dog. She is not social with other dogs. She is protective of her space around hyper dogs but ignores calm dogs. Valerie needs a home with kids 13 and up. She would not be the best with young kids but she would love to cuddle with a teenager who pets and bonds with her. Valerie is amazing on a leash and loves to go on walks. She is jaunty on her walks and loves to go out. Valerie is more focused on her person than anything else. She will play fetch with toys with you, and has a funny personality. She will roll around for fun, and she often barks at commercials on TV, she walks right up to the TV and looks at it. She is very smart and picks up on things quickly. She knows her name and pays attention when she is directed. She would be great for a small family or a person who can appreciate an older dog with quirks but a cute personality and can take care of her grooming needs. She thrives on attention so she wouldn't be happy in a big family or one with more than one other dog. Valerie has a very sweet heart and the desire to please. She loves to cuddle next to you on the couch and she wags her little stub tail. Can you open your heart up to Valerie? *LuvFurMutts Rescue cannot guarantee age, breed(s) or adult size of the dog.
