More About Goldendoodle Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

For info on this darling dog: loveleorescue@gmail.com Meet Oso. 75lbs of love and 9yrs young. He's seriously a sweetheart covered in fur. How could we say no to that face!!! He currently lives with 2 other dogs and does great with them. You will be hard pressed to find a more sensitive, gentle, loving boy. Its hard to imagine he has such a great personality after the rough first start to his life. He came into the shelter as a cruelty case. He was emaciated and flea infested. The shelter volunteers immediately saw the beautiful boy that he was and begged us to help him. He's in good shape and has medium energy. He's neutered, chipped and up to date on shots. If you are interested in spoiling this prince of a dog during his golden years - please email us: loveleorescue@gmail.com Thank you for choosing to adopt and saving a life.

      Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Polly Pocket is a champagne-colored, seven-year-old, spayed, female APBT. Her full vetting included a dental, blood work, vaccines, microchip and she is now a healthy and happy girl. Polly's sad story began with her being found abandoned in a field and chained to a tree. She was very underweight and in bad shape overall. Nowadays she is perky and fun, and enjoys playing with toys and going for light walks. She is a very affectionate girl and loves to snuggle with her people. While Miss Polly is polite and well-behaved with other well-mannered dogs on leash, she does not have any interest in playing or interacting with them as friends, and would prefer to be in a home where she can have her people all to herself. She is not destructive in a home or yard environment, and is quite content to relax on a fluffy bed with a bone to chew. Polly seems okay with the polite children that she has met so far; we are not sure how she would do sharing a home with cats. She is a good watchdog and let's her people know when someone new is nearby, but she does not carry on barking. She loves car rides and has been very well-behaved when visiting dog-friendly stores, attractions, and restaurants; we recently took her to Lazy Dog Cafe and she was as good as gold. There were other dogs having lunch with their families, loud noises, curious canines, and she paid them no mind; she was so relaxed and had such good manners that she was able to enjoy her own hamburger comfortably while her handlers ate their own meals. Please contact Farren Mahone of Board-N-Behave in Wildomar, CA at (951) 775-1499 orfarrenmahone@boardnbehave.com, or on the Board-N-Behave Facebook page.

Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). 2 week trial offered BENNY Chihuahua Birthdate: 2/10/11 Weight: 6 lbs. Neutered, up to date on vaccinations. BENNY IS A LAP DOG. Purse dog. Kids: Yes, with proper introduction Other dogs: Yes, with proper introduction Housebroken: Pee pad trained Barking: Only when approached by strangers Food: Eats pretty much anything WALKS: prefers to play in the yard rather than go on walks. NOTES: Benny is a huge love bug, & lap dog.... He eats up any attention he can get. He is initially anxious around strangers and takes some time to warm up, but has spent most of his life around many other dogs and people. Once he warms up, he is as sweet as can be. MEDICAL: Benny was diagnosed with an unspecified autoimmune disease when he was about a year old. It is likely a form of lupus that only affects his skin and nails. He underwent immunosuppressive treatment in the past, but it diminished his quality of life and was minimally effective. The vet at the time said that he can live a normal life without medication, however his extremities will appear most affected. This condition effects the edges of his ears, his nails, and his nose. Otherwise, he is very healthy and has had no other medical issues. Backstory: Benny was rescued from a vet’s office after being left by his owners to be put down due to a break in his leg. Benny was placed with a family for an extended foster, but they are no longer able to give him the love and attention he deserves. His leg is fully healed and he is thriving, but needs some special attention because of his rough past. contact: STARPAWSRESCUE@GMAIL.COM 424-229-1614 WEBSITE: Starpawsrescue.org

TOBY'S RESUME Objective: I'm Toby and I am looking for a home with a person or family who can continue my daily positive reinforcement training and enrichment, and who would love to have me as a life-long companion! About Me: I am friendly dog who loves people. I am a 67 pound, neutered, 16 month old, male Am Staff. I probably shouldn’t live in a home with cats because I am not sure about them. My History: I was adopted from Pasadena Humane Society (PHS) at @ 10 weeks but my first family didn’t pay much attention to me and they returned me when I was 10 mos old. My foster people saved me because my time was up at the shelter, and I have been trained by them in their home for two months. I am currently pursuing "graduate studies" at a really awesome boarding center where I am learning how to play well with other dogs and loving it. My Education: I am a quick learner – some of the things I know: sit, down, stay, come, shake, find-it, leave it. I enjoy resting in my crate, I walk nicely on leash and I am house trained. Activities: I love walking, hiking, playing fetch, ZOOMIES and then relaxing big time! Contact: Kelly Osburn – (310) 710-0856 k9youthalliance@ gmail.com
