    Nala

    rescue
    Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer (short coat). Nala is an awesome young GSP girl! Meet pretty Nala! This absolutely adorable 7 month-old GSP girl has a bit of an interesting story – she’s missing one of her back feet. She was born without the foot, and true to her GSP nature, doesn’t seem to care one bit. She romps around and is a go, go, go kind of girl! Some of that go needs to be refined by her forever home. Nala will benefit from a home where she’ll get all the exercise she needs as well as some continued work on her training. But she has a great foundation so far! She is crate trained and sleeps in there through the night, and walks nicely on leash with a harness. She also will need continued socialization and training with other dogs to learn the right way to be BFFs with fellow canines. Nala is seeing a specialist to evaluate options for her missing back foot. We’ll update this space soon! In the meantime, if you think Nala could be the right fit for your family, please apply! Status: Available pending appt with veterinary specialist for foot eval Location: Sacramento area, CA Adoption $: 360.00 with a $50.00 refund upon completion of a basic positive-reinforcement training class from a trainer on our training list, or approved by us in advance. Weight: 40 pounds Age: 10 months (birthdate: Jan 2, 2017) Kids: 6 and up Other dogs: Ok with proper intros, still needs work Cats: Unknown, would need testing Hunting: Unknown Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: http://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopted primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Nala's been up to, check out her posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: http://norcalgsprescue.org/category/available-dogs/our-foster-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs.

    Sig

    Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer. Meet Sig. This gorgeous sweet pea was found as a stray. His owners were located but they didn’t want him back. Their loss, our gain! Sig is a 7.5 years old male GSP (DOB 5/15/10). He’s 50 lbs, lean, in shape and very handsome. If I didn’t know his DOB, I’d swear he was much younger. He’s mostly liver except for a bit of white on his chest. He’s playful, good at fetch, ok with other dogs and has a high prey drive. He's very friendly, knows sit, enjoys a bath and is crate trained too. He comes from field lines, but we have no idea of his hunting interest; however, we do know that he likes cats just a little too much so no homes with cats for him. He’s new to our program and we are still learning about him, but he seems like a real catch for some lucky family. If you are interested in Sig, please fill out an adoption application at www.gsprescuenj.com.

    Dustin - Loc...

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer (short coat). Please contact Val (valdarling@hotmail.com) for more information about this pet. Dustin was found abandoned in Texas. He had tick born diseases and was very sick. Dustin had been hit by a car. His femur head was grinding in its socket. In order to let him be pain free and walk around, the vet had to do a Femur Head Ostectomy. Thanks to his foster mom, Dustin has done remarkably well. Dustin is a lover. He will put his head on your lap to be petted, for hours if you keep petting. Very laid back. He does well with everyone But Not Cats. Could be an excellent companion or emotional support dog. He is super housebroke. Neutered and up to date on vaccines. Walks great on a leash. Since then he has developed glaucoma in his left eye, due to a tick born pathogen. The vet says he is blind in that eye. He requires drops daily to keep the pressure down. The Chi Society would like to have the eye surgically removed so there is no chance of more problems. We are looking for a home where Dustin will be loved and cared for for what should be a long happy life. We are also looking for sponsors so we can get the eye surgery done. All of our dogs are spayed/ neutered before adoption. Adult dogs have had their core vaccines---parvo, distemper, bordatella, and rabies, All dogs are tested and are heartworm negative. In addition they have been de-wormed and kept on heartworm prevention and flea prevention while in foster care. Most dogs come with a micr-chip already implanted. Adoption fees range from 235.00- 275.00 depending on the dog. Many times the adoption fee does not even cover the cost of all of the vetting we have done for a dog. In addition, some of our dogs are fostered in the South and come up once adopted---There is an additional transport fee for these dogs. Please contact the person listed in the bio for more information on a particular dog. We are very careful in placing our dogs--and look for the best home for each dog--All of our dogs are fostered in private homes, with fosters who get to know the dogs and know the types of home that would be best for each dog. Thank you for considering a rescued pet and we look forward to helping you find a great dog match--
