  • Rat-Cha Dog For Adoption in Wallops Island, VA, USA

    Breed: Rat-Cha
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $250. Name: Nellie Breed: Chihuahua mix (possibly with Rat Terrier) Age: approx. 6 years Weight: 10 pounds Coat: tricolor, smooth coat Adoption Fee: $250 Location: Culpeper, VA area Vetting Status: spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative and maintained on preventatives Nellie is an adorable and feisty chihuahua. She loves to do whatever her people are doing, but especially cuddling up on the sofa with blankets to watch a movie (fair warning: half your popcorn is hers). There also isn't a squeaky toy this girl doesn't *LOVE*... which has earned her the nickname HRH Princess Nellie, Destroyer of Allthatsqueeks & Defluffer of Giant (toys). She is crate trained & potty trained. However, Nellie isn't one to make a huge fuss when she has to "go", so her human servants... and we are all human servants to HRH... shall be prepared to anticipate Nellie's restroom needs & allow access to the "loo" on schedule. Nellie does well with dogs of all sizes & has lived with dogs ranging in size from 2-75lbs. She isn't too fond of sharing her snacks or toys with other dogs...... what princess would be? Playing outside with her dog buddies is fun though & she enjoys bark royal decrees at her canine minions & the mailman. Nellie is not quite sure how she feels about kitties. If a cat will run, she will chase it for fun, but otherwise seems to tolerate them just fine. Small humans also tend to annoy her, so an adult-only home or one with respectful school-age (+5 years) or older children would be best. If you think Nellie is the dog for you, please fill out an adoption application today! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NOTE (for those over 65) -- As part of the application process, K9-ES asks that you provide a back up caretaker. Dogs are family & we want a human family member to step-up to take your new best friend in the event you are no longer able to care for him/her.... not for the dog to find themselves homeless once again in their declining years. We all know that life happens, so those under the age of 65 are also highly encouraged to think about a back-up plan for your animals BEFORE you potentially find yourself unable to care for them. On the application, there is a "comments" section where you can list the backups name, email address and phone number. Please fill that in as completely & specifically as possible. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nellie is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link: Veterinary and personal reference checks and a home visit are required prior to being approved to adopt. Non-local adopters are welcome! If you have questions, please e-mail the following: Please note, all of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!
