Have a question? Please read our Frequently Asked Questions and Adoption Processed Explained documentation. FOSTER HOME NEEDED Statistics Name: Virginia Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix Age: 3.5 Years Size: Large 61 Lbs. ~Large range: 61-100 lbs. Adoption Donation: $75 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Virgina needs a home with no other pets Other: Spayed Female, Vaccinations current, Microchip, No other animals of any kind, Needs fenced-in yard, No children Virginia has skin and environmental allergies and needs to eat prescription food. She also takes a daily medication to manage her allergies. Virginia is looking for a home and person to be all hers! Foster Home Feedback * Needs a fenced-in yard, No children, NO other animals (Virginia once fought a porcupine and lost-- she holds a grudge). Virginia has skin and environmental allergies and needs to eat prescription food. She also takes medication to manage her allergies. 11/13/17 Volunteer Feedback: I was lucky enough to take Virginia on a kennel break, and let me tell you, she is one easy lady to get along with! I had met Virginia on my building shifts and knew she was sweet and laid back, but didn't really know her that well. I could tell she was getting stressed at the building, so I decided to take her home for a movie day. She really enjoyed being away from the stressful shelter environment and just wanted to nap all day! She curled up on the couch and was content to snuggle and give kisses all afternoon. And let me tell you, she is the best snuggle-buddy you could ever have! Virginia was very respectful of everything in our home - she didn't jump on any counters, try to take any food, dig in the garbage, or try to chew on anything. I'm telling you, this girl is just about perfect! She did bark when she thought someone knocked, but with a few re-directions, she quickly stopped doing it. Virginia does have seasonal and dietary allergies, but with a proper diet and medications, this is handled quite easily! Virginia is really just a fantastic dog. She is happy, loving, respectful, and deserves a great life! I don't know how she hasn't been scooped up already! 9/10/17 Volunteer Feedback: Virginia is a delightfully beautiful girl looking for the perfect home. I have taken this sweetheart on a few adventures and I fall more in love with her each time. First, we went to the vet together to have an allergy shot. Virginia was well behaved while we waited for the technician to ask some questions. And in the few minutes it took for the vet to come in, she laid down and looked bored. Then we had an outing away from the shelter at my house. Virginia just really loves to be with her people. She followed my husband and I around and was always close by. She enjoyed exploring the backyard, found a few toys that were fun to play with, giving sweet kisses, and snoozing on a dog bed. Virginia is so quiet and laid back. She was by far the easiest house guest I've ever had. At the shelter, Virginia always keeps her kennel clean, walks very well on a leash with her harness. She knows a few basic commands. Although Virginia doesn't want the company of other animals as much as she does her humans, she is still a wonderful dog to consider adopting. Virginia just wants to be your one and only love. A lot of people think having a dog who is not dog-friendly is difficult. But I have two dogs of my own that only enjoy each other's company and it isn't difficult at all. Consider adopting Virginia and giving her the loving home she so deserves. 7/31/17: Virginia is a SUCH a sweetheart! She's been in our home for about 3 months and has proved to be an excellent companion. Virginia loves people and wants to be by your side for whatever you're doing... gardening, watching TV, making dinner, she just wants your company! She does very well walking on a leash and loves to get exercise every day. As long as you keep an eye out for approaching animals, she sticks right by your side. We love that Virginia knows so many commands (i.e. sit, stay, come, leave it) and is eager to learn even more. She would do best in a home that gives her free reign of the house, can make frequent check-ins, and has no other animals. We hope you'll consider Virginia as your next pet! 4/8/17 Volunteer Feedback: Meet Virgina! This girl has my heart. I have so enjoyed her sweet and silly personality. Another volunteer and I gave her a medicated bath to help with her skin issues. While some dogs are very difficult to bathe, Virgina was an absolute dream and her skin is on the mend. It was fun to watch her wiggle and run around a bit after her bath because she is generally so quiet. She is so easy to walk, isn't too playful and is quite laid back and happy to hang with you on the couch. Virgina always keeps her kennel clean, rides very nicely in a car and is great with kids. She always greets you with a wagging tail and isn't jumpy like many of the shelter dogs so she is a volunteer favorite to leash up. Please consider giving Virgina the wonderful home she so deserves. 3/27/17 Volunteer Feedback: Sweet Virginia was surrendered to the rescue needing some veterinary care for her skin and for the past few weeks I've been giving her special "spa" treatments with medicated shampoo. She is looking so much better and is now ready to be adopted! I can't say enough about what a very well behaved girl she is. If I already didn't have two fosters, I'd love to add her to my pack! Virginia is very docile and quiet and very stoic. She accepts whatever you ask of her or want to do to her. The last time she was over, I ended up keeping her for a good portion of the day as I just couldn't bear to bring her back to the shelter (where she patiently waits for a foster or forever home). To some, she may not be the prettiest dog, but she is certainly distinctive with one brown and one blue eye and to me, her beautiful nature does indeed make her a beautiful dog. Virginia walks nicely on leash, rides quietly and practically motionless in a vehicle and no reactions or barking while she is with me at home or at the shelter when I am there doing a shift. Please consider adding this wonderful girl to your family! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Have a question? Please read our Frequently Asked Questions and Adoption Processed Explained documentation. FOSTER HOME NEEDED Statistics Name: Gideon Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix Age: 1.5 Year Size: Medium 45 lbs. ~Medium range: 26 - 60 lbs. Adoption Donation: $180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, No Childen Gideon is super sweet and laid-back. Foster Home Feedback * No Children 11/6/17 Volunteer Feedback: Sweet Gideon is one of my building buddies. The dogs who live at the shelter long-term hold a soft spot in my heart. They wait sometimes for a very long time to get a foster because of some quirk...and with Gideon, it is his fear of men and children. Getting the resident dogs out of the building on community outings is so important for their mental health. So Gideon is my every Monday morning "buddy" and he helps deliver my meals on wheels route. I so look forward to letting him out of his kennel and having him jump into his co-pilot seat next to me and he literally is P E R F E C T in every way. He shows no fear of any male pedestrians near the car or men in cars right next to him at stop signs. He is quiet, practically immobile, and the smells from the basket of meals don't tempt him to try and grab something for himself! Most Mondays we run a few other errands and he quietly and patiently waits for me when I leave the car. Some days we grab a treat in a drive-thru food establishment...and on other occasions, I will bring Gideon over to play in my yard and maybe give him a bath. His manners are impeccable here. This guy is completely potty trained, active and loves to play...but also loves to snuggle. Gideon is such a wonderful dog and I pray some happily single female will apply to be a foster for him...or even better yet...adopt him! He has so much love to give...won't someone give him that chance?? Could it be you?? 11/6/17 Volunteer Feedback: Mr. Gideon is continually growing and getting comfortable with others. He is still VERY fearful of men, so a home with a female owner may be best. Gideon also has some stranger danger, so a home without a lot of traffic would be ideal. Gideon has been attending training class every other week and has been doing excellent! He is becoming calmer around other dogs and people and learning that new spaces are okay. Gideon’s favorite trick is to shake. Sometimes he forgets the sit part and goes right to the shake, what a goofy dude! Although shake may be his favorite, he also knows sit and down. We are working on stay, and he is becoming pretty comfortable with it. This dog is the cuddliest dog I know! He has no boundaries. When volunteers enter to see him (if he feels comfortable with them), he smiles and wiggles his entire body. Gideon showers our faces with affectionate kisses and wants to sit on our laps. I have taken many naps with this dog and he is the best cuddle buddy. Gideon needs a foster home or forever home that is patient and willing to work through his issues. I truly believe that in the right home, Gideon would be the best companion, showing unconditional love and affection. In a home that is willing to work with Gideon and overcome his issues, he will be the best dog that ever entered your life. He has helped all the volunteers grow and I know he will continue to do so. So, consider this dude, you will not regret it! 11/6/17 Volunteer feedback: Gideon is one of my favorite parts about volunteering. He greets you with the most wiggly butt and his silly toothy grin. He is such a good walking buddy - he is just happy to trot alongside you and do some sniffing here and there. Gideon has so much love to give and he deserves so much love right back. He truly is such a sweet dog. Please consider giving Gideon a chance and a comfy home that he can claim forever. 8/21/17 Volunteer Feedback: I love seeing Gideon's smiling face when I'm at the shelter. (He will literally "grin" when he sees a familiar person!) He is shy around men, but he will warm up if you give him time. He's a super playful and fun guy when you get to know him...and of course, he's adorable! 8/21/17 Volunteer Feedback: Gideon has grown so much compared to when he first entered the shelter. Slowly but surely, he is getting more confident being around people. That being said, Gideon still has some stranger danger, particular towards men. He has not quite learned that men are okay and is very uneasy when around. He has grown so much! With slow introductions and a willingness to show him that people are good, Gideon will be the best dog! Gideon is a very loyal dog. Once he knows you, he remembers and he will be your best friend. He is very people oriented, sometimes disinterested in toys or treats. Gideon is such a sweet boy and has stolen my heart! If you are willing to put in the work to show him how good people are, Gideon will be a forever friend who will love you unconditionally! 7/11/17 Volunteer Feedback: Gideon spent most of the day at my home on a break from the shelter...and we had such fun! He was a complete gentleman and enjoyed romping in the backyard with stuffed toys.To say he looked 'joyous' is an understatement!! After playing, I brought him into our small walk in shower and gave him a bath, including his face and head, and he was calm and quiet. Gideon really seemed to actually like being brushed too. Since Gideon is afraid of men, I had him in a kennel when my husband came home and Gideon just quietly observed him without barking. Slow intros to men are necessary for some rescue dogs like Gideon (who probably have good reasons for their fears). I am so hopeful Gideon will soon get a foster or forever person or family, but until he does I hope to take him on more outings and expose him to lots of nice men. Love this guy... 3/1/17: Gideon is such a sweetheart! We love having him as part of our family! He loves to cuddle and relax, but also has a playful side. He enjoys running around with our dog in the backyard. Gideon does well on a leash for walks and sleeps great in his kennel. He also does a great job in the car...doesn't make a peep and usually sleeps! Gideon is fully potty trained and stands by the back door to let us know that he needs to relieve himself. He does well with female dogs but seems to not favor other male dogs. He can be resource aggressive; in a multi-dog home, I recommend feeding them separately. As an only dog, I truly believe he would be the best dog ever! Gideon just wants all of the love. He can also be shy around Human males and tends to gravitate towards females. Total ladies man! However, with time, Gideon warms up. Gideon listens to commands well and would be easily trained. He would be a great addition to a loving and special family. We will be a little sad to see him go, but very happy to find Gideon his forever family! 1/15/17 Volunteer Feedback: Oh what a handsome man! Gideon was a bit shy when I first meet him at my volunteer shift but by the end of my shift, we were best friends. He is a very well-mannered dog when it comes to walking and every once awhile he would turn around and jump on me for some cuddle time. He would benefit from some positive obedience training just to help keep his mind working and most important, work on socialization skills that he will need to become a more confident balanced dog. She is available for adoption after the completion of her treatments, which should be late November. If you have any questions about fostering-to-adopt please email amy@4luvofdog.org Ronnie is looking for a home all of her own! Foster Home Feedback * NO other pets, No children, Fenced-in yard required 11/6/17: SO MANY CUDDLES! This dog is a perfect friend for those who dislike the cold. She prefers the warmth of indoors to long romps in the snow. Since the weather turned, Ronnie and I have spent many hours lounging by the fire, sewing and baking cookies. Every time I let her out of her kennel, she does this adorable slow, happy lolloping run through the house, and it makes me want to squish her face so much! We still have no accidents in the house, she's doing great in her kennel, and Ronnie is really honing her leash skills. 10/12/17: Ronnie is an amazing dog. So incredibly loving and sweet and cuddly and awesome. All this dog wants in life is to be with her people. We don't have any bathroom problems in the house; she does well in the kennel (after she settled into her heavy duty kennel), and she walks nicely on a leash. Ronnie's a great size - not too big, not too small. She rides nicely in the car, and we've been working on a little bit of anxiety when she's left alone in the car for brief periods of time. She's doing really well. When we first started, we couldn't even leave her alone in the car to run into the house to grab something we forgot. Last weekend, I was able to run in to the grocery store for coffee beans, and she did great. I'll continue to take her for very short trips to build her confidence. Oh, and Ronnie's seriously adorable. She's so cute that people have pulled their cars over to talk to us while we're walking in the neighborhood. So if anyone is looking for dog that can help them get a date, Ronnie would be perfect. 8/13/17 Volunteer Feedback: Ronnie had a kennel break at our house. She very interested in laying on the couch! She had 2 poop accidents but that was it. Otherwise did all her business outside. Ronnie doesn't love the kennel and will need a little work in this department. I was able to leave her in a metal kennel for roughly 25 minutes and although she was anxious, she did not bust out of it. Ronnie will need some positive reinforcements with the kennel. I think it wouldn't take her long to be comfortable in one. She is a lover and loves her people!! Ronnie is very content just hanging out with her family. She would be a pretty easy dog to have around once her fear of the kennel is relieved. And she is as cute as a button!! 8/12/17: Ronnie is a sweet lady who finds the world a little scary at times. Men especially can scare her, but with patience, she realizes they are friends. Ronnie will need a home who understands and can help her overcome her fears. Please read our Frequently Asked Questions and Adoption Processed Explained documentation. Statistics Name: Maya Breed: Miniature Pinscher Age: 9.5 Years ** Size: Small Lbs. ~Small range: Up to 25 lbs. Adoption Donation: $ 180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Other: Spayed female, vaccinations current, Microchip ** Maya qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors Program. This program places senior dogs (age 8 or older) with senior citizens (age 65 or older) at a reduced adoption fee of $65.00. If you qualify and are interested in participating in this program, please fill out an application online and type "SENIOR" after your name. Maya is looking for a nice quiet home! Foster Home Feedback 9/18/17: Maya has been with me for about 2 weeks now and she's been so much fun to have around. She gets along really well with my dog, even though he's three times bigger. She loves to go for walks but loves to cuddle just as much. She can often be found completely burrowed under a blanket on the couch. Maya loves attention, giving kisses, and a good belly rub as well. I also have two young cats and she does well with them also. She will chase after them if they're running, but it's just in fun. One of my cats absolutely loves dogs and they're often caught cuddling and Maya sometimes tries to get her to play by poking and prodding her with her nose. Maya is potty trained and crate trained as well. I don't think she would need to be kenneled, but since my own dog is kenneled when I'm gone, Maya is too. She readily goes into her kennel with a peanut butter Kong and is quiet until I come back home. I don't have kids, but I think Maya would do fine with kids that are respectful and understand how to behave appropriately around dogs. Technically, she may be considered a senior dog, but don't let that gray face fool you. She'd love to be the side-kick on your adventures and I think Maya would fit into just about any family. Statistics Name: Carlito Breed: Miniature Pinscher Age: 4 Years Size: Small lbs. ~Small range: up to 25 lbs Adoption Donation: $180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip Carlito is a cute little boy who just knows you want to take him home! Foster Home Feedback Carlito has fainting-type episodes on occasion. He has had testing to determine if these episodes are due to Diabetes, Addison's Disease, or Epilepsy, and results have been negative. Carlito's adopter must be understanding that Carlito may need further vetting to determine what these episodes are. 10/30/17: Carlito has been doing awesome these past couple of months. He has not had any more fainting episodes. He has had 2 in the almost 3 months we have had him. Both times he was highly stimulated and excited. But there have been times he hasn’t fainted and has been super excited and active. Carlito has also improved with marking. He doesn’t usually wear a belly band at home but if we go visiting, we will put one on him then. It’s important to make sure he potties in the morning as he has occasional accidents in his kennel. Carlito’s not super fond of his people leaving and will bark at first when we leave but quiets down and is content in his kennel for the workday. Carlito loves car rides and we would recommend that he is kenneled when he is in the car. He gets super excited and bounces around from window to window. He also wants to put his head out of the window, which could be dangerous, so in a kennel is safest for everyone. Carlito loves everyone he meets. He loves to sit on laps or snuggle under your sweatshirt. He has found every window in the house that has a perch for him to look out and he loves to be outside. He likes to sit on the back of furniture if he’s not in someone’s lap or under a blanket too! Carlito has so much love to give and he’s super handsome! He’s ready for his forever family! 8/9/17: Carlito has been with us for about a month now and he is such a fun little dude! He has been very friendly to everyone he has met. He has met a couple of children, but he does not live with any so we are not sure how he would do with active youngsters full time. He loves to perch on the back of the couch or recliner and has found all the spots in the house where he can look out the windows and see what's going on in the neighborhood. Carlito marked a few times since he moved in; this has decreased somewhat since he got neutered. He still wears a belly band most of the time. Carlito took a couple of days to adjust to a new potty schedule and had one accident. It's helpful to keep an eye on him to make sure he goes potty before coming inside. Carlito kennels fairly well. He does tend to bark occasionally throughout the day so he may not be a good candidate for an apartment. Carlito does not chew on things he shouldn't (a big Plus!) He seems to really like to pick up stones and carry them around. We do take them away from him so he doesn't eat them and keep an eye on him when he is in the yard. Carlito also likes to dig a little bit but is redirected fairly well when he is told "no". Carlito doesn't know many commands so we are working on the basics like "sit" and "off". Carlito loves to sit with his human, preferably on their lap. He also loves to burrow under blankets at night and usually sleeps at our feet. Carlito lives with other dogs, most of which are bigger then he is. He gets along with everyone well and will let another dog know if he doesn't feel like playing. He can also be a bit bossy towards our bigger dogs and will chase them around the yard a bit. Carlito is such a sweetheart and a cuddle bug. He does have some personality quirks that his adopter will need to understand and accept about him but he has loads of love to give! Foster Home Feedback * Iris is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. She is available to foster-to-adopt until then if you would like to help her through her treatment (the rescue pays for all of her care). She is available for adoption after the completion of her treatments, which should be sometime in Nov/Dec. ** Needs fenced-in yard, No other pets, No children 9/29/17: It’s hard to explain how a picture can make you want to help, but as soon as I saw the picture of Iris online I knew we needed to help her. She came from an out of state pound where she ended up giving birth to seven puppies. She and her puppies had nowhere to go and it was heartbreaking seeing them all in the pound. After a few days of organizing transportation (including two flights from Pilots N Paws), they were here! A short time after arriving Iris became very sick and needed to go to the emergency vet for surgery. She had a horrible infection in her uterus and needed immediate surgery to save her life. She ended up staying at the vet for two days because of mild complications with the surgery, but she pulled through and everything was good again. Until she went to the vet again for a routine exam and it was discovered she was heartworm positive. Poor Iris has been through so much already and now this. She has been going through heartworm treatment for two months and has one more month left. The treatment is getting injections once a month to kill the heartworms. She has been doing very well with treatment. She needs to be on crate rest while she goes through the treatment which is not a big deal for her since she is already very mellow and laid back. Iris is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. We have fostered over 70 dogs and there’s something about Iris that has touched my heart. She’s only about 4 years old, but she has an old soul. She is very mellow and relaxed. She loves to hang out with her people and is not hyper or needy at all. She listens very well and is treat motivated so teaching her new things has been easy. Iris needs to go to a home with no other pets though. Some dogs just want to be the only pet and that is what Iris wants for her best life. She deserves all of the attention to herself. She does well on walks and if she sees other dogs she does not try and get to them. She just ignores them. She loves going for car rides and will sit in the back calmly and look out the window. Unfortunately, Iris does have some separation anxiety so she needs to go to a home with no shared walls. She has a special crate she stays in when we are not home and she does very well in it, but she does bark and whine when we leave. The crate is an extra strong metal crate that she cannot break out of. When she was in a weaker crate she was able to break out of it and chewed the wood trim of our door and window. Because of this, it is recommended she not be left out when no one is home. When we are home, she is super easy, does not bark or whine at all, and just wants to hang out with you on the couch or outside in the sunshine. Iris is truly a great dog and I am so thankful we were able to help her. If you have a home with no pets and are looking for an amazing dog, Iris is it. Foster Home Feedback 10/27/17: Donatella is a very unique looking dog. She is a gray and white merle mini Schnauzer. The merle gene is a dilution gene, causing her to have a light coat and one blue eye. She is a very nice, gentle dog. Her favorite activities are tug of war, going for walks outside, cuddling up in her dog bed when she wants alone time and sitting on or near her favorite person, as she enjoys a good ear scratch and belly rub. Donatella has been diagnosed with diabetes over a year ago. Due to this, she does require a special diabetic food from the Vet and 2 doses of insulin per day. The insulin shots are very easy to administer and she tolerates them very well. Also, due to diabetes, cataracts have formed limiting her vision. Donatella is highly adaptable and within a week she was cruising around the house like she lived here forever. Not going to lie, there were a few times that she bumped into a wall or some furniture, but she is a very quick learner. She also takes allergy medication as needed for itchy skin and a joint supplement due to a knee that can slip out of joint (luxating patella) which causes her to limp from time to time. She does require occasional grooming to keep her beard and eyebrows in check. Donatella is both house trained and kennel trained. We had an adjustment period where she was quite anxious when I left her alone, but she seems to be adjusting as she gets used to my daily routine. Diffusing a calming essential oil also seems to help. Donatella is super curious of both my cats and dogs. She does not give them much personal space when they are within her eyesight, which does annoy my dogs—but she also understands their cues and is getting better at backing off. She does get a little jealous when I am giving another dog attention but seems to be getting used to having to share my time with others. I think Donatella would be a great companion dog for someone that is home often or in a home with a companion dog or cat. She seems to be less anxious when she has company. Donatella is such a loving dog. It has been a joy getting to know her the past two weeks. She has so much love and loyalty to give to some lucky family. Please read our Frequently Asked Questions and Adoption Processed Explained documentation. Statistics Name: Fetty Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Age: 4 Years Size: Medium 59 Lbs ~Medium range: 26 - 60 lbs Adoption Donation: $180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip Fetty is looking a forever home, so he can be someone's boy! Foster Home Feedback 10/23/17: Mr. Fetty continues to be an absolute joy to have in our home. He has welcomed every dog that comes into our home to live or visit...and never a complaint or speck of trouble with any. He loves going for short walks, riding in the car, taking naps, watching foster brother Nyle retrieve and play endlessly and follows me as I move about the house, upstairs and down Last week Fetty was a big hit at Eventide where a room full of residents, family members and staff met him for pats on the head and ear scratches, as they learned all about 4 Luv of Dog Rescue. What an awesome ambassador for the Pit Bull breed! Fetty is such a gentle soul...a dog who has not had the best life...but still remains sweet and loving. 10/1/17: So excited to report Fetty is now keeping up with his big foster brothers on longer walks! Pretty sure he'll never be a jogging companion, but he is walking at a very normal pace. We are going to a nursing home tomorrow to make more friends 9/20/17: Calm, serene, quiet and a friend to all, describes this wonderful dog. I have had him 6 weeks while he has recovered from a devastating seizure. He could hardly walk when I picked him up at the e-vet and slowly he has healed to the point of having small bursts of the zoomies! Fetty kennels easily and when I know I will be gone more than 2 hours I will kennel him if I know he has recently drank a lot of water. Otherwise, I leave him out. Once he relearned and gained enough strength to climb my steps to the bedroom, he has slept quietly on a dog bed on the floor. He loves napping in his dog bed close to wherever I am. In the evening my husband allows Fetty on the basement couch while he watches tv. Otherwise, he can always be found napping and snoring softly in his dog bed. Since starting phenobarbital Fetty has been seizure free. He takes a pill every 12 hours so he needs a home where his family is able to keep to a schedule. The medication makes him thirsty and so he needs to have his water intake monitored and be let out after drinking. He has a huge bladder and regularly pees for an amazing 45 seconds at a time! I feel a home where his owner only works part-time or from home would be ideal. He would be a great dog for grandparents as he has been great with my grandkids. We go for 6 block walks several times a day; he loves to sniff for pee-mail and tell other dogs he has been out walking. Fetty is a very slow walker. If you are looking for a fitness walking partner Fetty is NOT that dog. He is a dog that radiates calmness and has taught me patience and the joy of a slower pace of life. From the vet records we received, we know Fetty at one point had some allergies and itchy skin. He has been perfect here and happily eats only his kibble...absolutely no dog treats or human food. I absolutely adore this big boy and if I were ready to stop fostering he would be my forever dog and I would be training him as a therapy dog as he would be awesome! 9/18/17: Fetty has a seizure disorder. His adopter will need to give his medication on-time and without fail to ensure Fetty stays happy and healthy. Fetty's medication costs less than $40/month and he will need semi-annual bloodwork done to ensure that his medication is at the right dose. Fetty does best in one-level homes with minimal stairs. His medication makes him thirsty, so adopters will need to monitor Fetty's water intake. Fetty does great with everyone he's met and is excited to find his forever home! Please read our Frequently Asked Questions and Adoption Processed Explained documentation. Statistics Name: Merlin Breed: Manchester Terrier Age: 7 Years Size: Small 20 lbs. ~Small range: up to 25 lbs. Adoption Donation: $180 - $20 * donation = $160 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, vaccinations current, microchip * Adoption Donation to help Merlin find his forever home from Dorothy! Thank you! Merlin want to have a magical forever home! Foster Home Feedback 1/3/17: Merlin is still searching for a home he can call his own. Merlin still gets around like a champ with the help of Dasaquin and Lubri-Syn once a day. This will have to be continued indefinitely. Merlin also needs to avoid a lot of activity like a lot of stairs or high furniture. I have doggy steps that he uses to get up and down off our couch/bed, and he is happy to use those. As long as Merlin has a lap to snuggle on, he's a very happy, content little guy. Merlin's ideal home would be one without a lot of stairs and a very laid back home without a lot of visitors. Even with this colder weather, Merlin still goes outside to do his business but is happy to get back into the warm house and find a spot with my other dogs in front of a vent to warm up. If you're looking for a snuggle buddy to keep you warm on these cold nights, let Merlin work his magic on you! 4/27/16: Merlin is still patiently waiting and is hoping he'll be spending summer with a family he can call his own. While warmer weather usually means a lot more activity, Merlin is still happy to just lounge around the house. Now that we're getting some warmer days, Merlin likes to show off how great he is at multitasking by "supervising" me while I do lawn work AND soaking up the sun at the same time. While Merlin does enjoy a walk, he's happy that I'm not too much of a runner, as he's happy to go at a nice, leisurely pace. His favorite place to be is still curled up next to me, but when I have things to do, he'll crawl into his crate with his blanket and is very content in there. Merlin may take a little more time and patience, but once he feels secure and knows you're all right, he'll give you his heart and be your buddy for life. 12/16/15: Merlin has his paws crossed that he'll get a wonderful forever home for Christmas. Merlin has done excellent with his potty training and will now tell us, sometimes quite adamantly, when he needs to go out (even with this colder weather). However, I would recommend an adopter crate or keep a close eye on Merlin when bringing him into their home. I still do slow introductions to people with Merlin but have noticed that Merlin seems to do better with women than he does with men. While he is able to be around men, it does take time for him to learn that he can trust them and so I now let men know not to overwhelm Merlin, give him some time and patience, and to let him come to them. I am a huge supporter of positive reinforcement, and this would definitely need to be the case with Merlin. Merlin is still getting around like a champ, but he is on a daily joint supplement and anti-inflammatory. We just stick them in with his breakfast, and he chows them down. Merlin is definitely my snuggle buddy and takes his job of keeping my legs and feet warm very seriously. If you have the patience to let Merlin come out of his shell, you will see an extremely loyal and delightful little guy. 8/27/15: Merlin is a wonderful, happy little fellow who has fit right into our home. He is doing very well with his potty training and will remind us that he needs to go out. He's a talkative little guy, so I would recommend no apartments for Merlin. He does very well with our dogs - big and small. We only have two who are interested in playing with him, and he's always up for a good game of chase. Merlin does have subluxating patellas (common in small dogs), so we are careful to make sure he doesn't get too crazy in his play. When our own dogs play, he either wants to join in the play or tell them to settle down. Merlin would do well in a calmer home as he likes to run a tight ship. While he does enjoy meeting new people, he also wants to make sure they understand no shenanigans. Merlin loves to crawl up into my lap and rest his head on my shoulder. At night, he crawls under the covers and keeps my legs warm. Merlin does well in a crate but definitely enjoys being around his people. Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 180. {s3829code380/} If you would like to provide this dog a loving home, please fill out a pre-adoption application. Have a question? Please read our Frequently Asked Questions and Adoption Processed Explained documentation. Statistics Name: Jinxy Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix Age: 2.5 Years Size: Medium 40 lbs. ~Medium range: 26 - 60 lbs Adoption Donation: $180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Other: Spayed Female, Vaccinations current, Microchip, No Cats Jinxy just wants to cuddle! Foster Home Feedback * NO Cats 5/8/17: Jinxy's update is well overdue. She has settled into our family so wonderfully. Jinxy enjoys being with us, whether it's playing and goofing around or relaxing in the sun. She has done well with crate training the past couple of months and has very, very few accidents in her crate and none in the house. She comes to work with me during the day and this has seemed to help tremendously so I can make sure to get her out to potty. Jinxy enjoys training and flourishes with positive training methods. She has done great with our dogs too and is learning to be calm when meeting other dogs. Jinxy is also great with kids. She is a fantastic dog! 2/23/17: Jinxy has certainly settled into our home and hearts. She is a very affectionate girl who wants to please (and gets easily distracted). We have been working on "dog to dog" behaviors and she is learning to throttle back some when playing with our dogs. Since she gets distracted easily, she can sometimes forget to do both 1 and 2 potty when she is outside. If we monitor her though and remind her by going out with her, taking away distractions, and telling her to go potty, then she does great and can be allowed free roam of the house (when we are home). Jinxy is working on crate training and has a little anxiety. She knows sit and stay, lay down, and more soon! She has also been around kids, ages 4 and 6, and been great. She seems to have a prey drive with cats so not recommended to be around cats. She has tolerated being switched to Zignatures dog food. Her skin is still very sensitive, for example, to the cold, irritates easier from scratches, etc. Jinxy LOVES playing with the jolly ball. She is quick, driven, and has a great vertical jump; she is a wonderful candidate for agility. She sometimes skips an entire set of seven stairs (!) at our house when she is running her "hot laps"...She is such a hoot. 12/18/16: Jinxy has been with us for a couple of days. She seems to be kennel trained and potty trained, so far. She requires slow intros to dogs, as she can sometimes be intense on leash- we are working on it though and have very high hopes she can learn to control herself. Jinxy loves to play and is a great cuddler when she is tired. She is only about 40lbs too, so great size to share the couch with! Currently, Jinxy is on special dog food (ZD) for her sensitive stomach and skin. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org
