    Hobie

Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 180. {s3829code380/} If you would like to provide this dog a loving home, please fill out a pre-adoption application. Have a question? Please read our Frequently Asked Questions and Adoption Processed Explained documentation. FOSTER HOME NEEDED Statistics Name: Hobie Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix Age: 1 Year Size: Large lbs. ~Large range: 61-100 lbs Adoption Donation: $75 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, No Other Pets *Although there are no long-term issues for Hobie, he is still shedding the Parvo virus. Hobie will not be able to visit pet stores, training facilities, or any other public areas that dogs frequent until after March 10th, as he may leave the virus behind, and puppies or unvaccinated adult dogs would be at risk. Hobie would love to follow you around the house and keep you company. Foster Home Feedback * No Other Pets 1/2/18: Hobie came to the rescue fighting for his life, but he is happy as ever now! He is in good health, but could stand to put on a few pounds. Hobie is a pretty easy guy to have around. He's excited to see me when I first get home, he comes out of his kennel full of butt wiggles :) He is extra happy when he has a fresh bone to chew on - so far that has been his favorite activity. He also enjoys cuddling on the couch, and getting in a good nap while he is there. Hobie has had no accidents as long as I'm home to let him out. Hobie has been friendly with all the people he has met. He is still a young dog that doesn't really know his own size, so he would do best with kids that are a little older and are sturdy on their feet. Once Hobie is through his parvo stage, I would recommend going to some positive reinforcement training classes with him - he is still just a big playful pup, so needs some help with his manners, and responds best when there is a little reward in it for him. Training classes are also a great way to bond with a new dog. Hobie didn't love the kennel at first but has shown a lot of improvement - he does pretty well now, but can be a little vocal about it at times. Hobie probably doesn't need to be kenneled once you trust him around your house, the few times he has been left out he has not bothered anything. He may have an accident if left too long, so it would be best to make sure he is doing well with his potty training before leaving him out. Maybe all the attention he got while he was sick made him a diva - but Hobie has decided that he wants to be the only pet in the home. He is looking to be someone's one and only, but he promises he is worth it! Hobie has already survived parvo to get his second chance at the good life - please consider giving him the home he deserves! He will love you for it :) To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check. Other: Spayed Female, Vaccinations current, Microchip, No Cats, Older considerate children Jinxy just wants to cuddle! Foster Home Feedback * NO Cats 1/4/18: Happy New Year! Jinxy is hopeful that 2018 is the year she finds her forever family. She has been getting the hang of our new routine as much changed when I switched careers with drastic changes (such as my amount of hours worked, she can no longer come to work with me, etc). She would be over the moon happy to be with an adult family where she can get their undivided attention and go running with them a couple times a week, then come home and snuggle on the couch. Of course, Jinxy loves to please, so we are working with her to overcome even more hurdles, such as not acting out of control when meeting new dogs; she does best with a slow and controlled environment with time. Jinxy has some separation/isolation issues but does well with structure and a solid routine. She also does best in a small area versus a kennel. Jinxy has been exposed to children and enjoys them when they respect her and her space. She doesn’t seem to fully understand kids so an adult home would best suit her, or one with older children. Jinxy knows and enjoys her routine we have now. Once she is settled into an environment, you hardly know she is there. She snuggles up into her bed and is a happy peaceful pup. If allowed, she would choose your lap or the couch over her bed and ensure that you are kept warm and safe. Jinxy is so easy to love! 5/8/17: Jinxy's update is well overdue. She has settled into our family so wonderfully. Jinxy enjoys being with us, whether it's playing and goofing around or relaxing in the sun. She has done well with crate training the past couple of months and has very, very few accidents in her crate and none in the house. She comes to work with me during the day and this has seemed to help tremendously so I can make sure to get her out to potty. Jinxy enjoys training and flourishes with positive training methods. She has done great with our dogs too and is learning to be calm when meeting other dogs. Jinxy is also great with kids. She is a fantastic dog! 2/23/17: Jinxy has certainly settled into our home and hearts. She is a very affectionate girl who wants to please (and gets easily distracted). We have been working on "dog to dog" behaviors and she is learning to throttle back some when playing with our dogs. Since she gets distracted easily, she can sometimes forget to do both 1 and 2 potty when she is outside. If we monitor her though and remind her by going out with her, taking away distractions, and telling her to go potty, then she does great and can be allowed free roam of the house (when we are home). Jinxy is working on crate training and has a little anxiety. She knows sit and stay, lay down, and more soon! She has also been around kids, ages 4 and 6, and been great. She seems to have a prey drive with cats so not recommended to be around cats. She has tolerated being switched to Zignatures dog food. Her skin is still very sensitive, for example, to the cold, irritates easier from scratches, etc. Jinxy LOVES playing with the jolly ball. She is quick, driven, and has a great vertical jump; she is a wonderful candidate for agility. She sometimes skips an entire set of seven stairs (!) at our house when she is running her "hot laps"...She is such a hoot. 12/18/16: Jinxy has been with us for a couple of days. She seems to be kennel trained and potty trained, so far. She requires slow intros to dogs, as she can sometimes be intense on leash- we are working on it though and have very high hopes she can learn to control herself. Jinxy loves to play and is a great cuddler when she is tired. She is only about 40lbs too, so great size to share the couch with! Currently, Jinxy is on special dog food (ZD) for her sensitive stomach and skin. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Have a question? Please read our Frequently Asked Questions and Adoption Processed Explained documentation. Statistics Name: Gendry Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix Age: 1.5 Years Size: Large lbs. ~Large range: 61-100 lbs Adoption Donation: $180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, NO Cats Gendry would like to be your boy! Foster Home Feedback * NO Cats 1/28/18: We have had the pleasure of having this gentle giant in my home for about 4 months now, and he has to be one of the biggest sweeties ever. One of Gendry's favorite things to do is grab one of his many toys and push them off the bed and chase after them. We have not introduced him to cats because his last foster said he does not do so well so, NO CATS! But other than that, he does great with other dogs, even ones that bully him. He will just walk away. Since Gendry is not a barker, he expresses his feeling through his big brown eyes and strong tail. When it comes to kenneling Gendry, a wire kennel does not work. He finds a way to get out every time, even if it is ratchet strapped and zip tied together. We have found that the full plastic kennel with ratchet straps around it has kept him in. When we got him he was not trained, but in the past few months, we have been working very hard on the basics. So far we have got Gendry to "sit", "wait", "off", and recently got him to "lay down". Although he knows what "off" means it does not mean he wants to get down every time because he loves being where ever you are. Gendry is so amazing with children, he views them as his best friend and just wants to play. He has a very gentle mouth and wouldn't hurt a fly. Gendry's favorite time of day is bedtime time; he loves climbing into bed and snoring all night long. Once he is asleep, he will sleep through the entire night and he will not move at all. Gendry is also one of the biggest cuddle bugs you can find and has no boundaries what so ever. Gendry would be a wonderful dog for your family! 10/28/17: I've only had Gendry for three days and it's hard to believe he acted like a puppy when I first brought him home. I would now describe him as a gentle giant (who doesn't know how big he is) that loves people!!! Gendry does not like cats, not even pretend cats. He likes to play toys with my 6-year-old son and will play his version of fetch with me Gendry likes to get a hug before he will release the ball. We are working on "drop". He loves to be hugged and massaged. He will entertain himself for an hour or so with bones or toys. Gendry prefers to be near his people. He will take a nap on his blankets or in his bed; he will even use a toy as a pillow. Oh, and he can snore. It's not too loud...it's adorable. Gendry is a fast learner. He knows "sit", "down" and "sit up" which is our version of a puppy sit-up. He is working on "shake" & "speak". We have also worked on "off" and he does OK when it comes to the sofa but it is a challenge to get him off the bed. Once he is comfortable, Gendry is dead weight and he looks at you with his eyes that seem to say "Please?????". Now that we have a doggie bed for him he does like to lay in that and chew on his chew toys. We love to go for walks using a walking harness (the volunteers at the shelter started using with him); Gendry is learning to walk with me instead of pulling me. He still has a way to go, but in the three days we've been working on it, he has come a long way. We do walk to the elementary school to get my son in the afternoon. Gendry loves the attention he gets from the students. I did try to use a wire kennel for Gendry but he learned how to escape within minutes. During his hour of freedom, he did check out the garbage and move (without chewing) a few of our shoes to a different room. He also played with his toys while I was gone. I now just leave him in my bedroom with a few of his favorite chew toys. Or I take him with me. In the car, he should be tethered or you may find him trying to drive with you. I also need to mention Gendry is a handsome dog! He has tiger-like markings on his back that are very unique. His face is expressive and his quirky ears add to his personality. Whenever we meet someone new, they comment on his beauty. I am so excited for Gendry to find his forever home. Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, Older/Considerate Children only Bruno is looking for someone to teach him and love him! Foster Home Feedback 12/28/17: Bruno has been in our home for a couple weeks now and we’ve come to adore him. He’s 77 pounds of love that is slowly learning the world is not such a scary place. Bruno does very well with our 3 boys and is very gentle for his size. He does, however, love to hand out kisses and personal space is non-existent in his world. Bruno also does well with our 11-year-old lab but I’m not sure Bruno has had many opportunities to learn proper dog play behavior so he may need a tolerant dog buddy that would be ok handling rough play and giving him proper doggy signals. We are unsure how he does around cats. Bruno loves to go for walks and literally bounces the first 10 feet of each walk. He’s is very strong and is still learning how to walk nicely on a leash. We have come to learn that Bruno has some fear of men. He is totally fine with women and kids but men seem to scare him. He’s great with my husband and once he learns that a new man he meets is not scary, he starts to warm up. We are continuing to work on this with slow introductions to new men with lots of positive reinforcement. His new forever home will need to continue to give him the love and patience he deserves. 12/5/17: Bruno is such a beautiful, playful, goofy guy. His eyes will melt your heart with one glance! He loves to run and play, is so incredibly sweet, and loves to give kisses. Today we decided to just hang out on the couch and the head scratches put him right to sleep. When Bruno woke up, he looked up at me and gently licked my nose. He is definitely a keeper. Please give him a chance to live happily ever after in your home To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

He will need to be on medications for life to manage these conditions. These medications cost about $195 a month. Kyler is the boy for you! Foster Home Feedback 1/14/18: My name is Kyler. I love to play with my friend Daisy, snuggling in my bed, romping in the yard (when the weather is nice) and chewing on my Kong toy. I take medicine daily for my Cushings. I am potty trained, I’m pretty quiet & low key, and I kennel up. I do have a hard time with steps; they scare me. My foster mom carries me down to the fenced in yard. I like a “quieter” house, not sure on cats but maybe possible. My foster mom tells me I’m WONDERFUL!! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Please read our Frequently Asked Questions and Adoption Processed Explained documentation. 7Statistics Name: Fetty Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Age: 4.5 Years Size: Medium 59 Lbs ~Medium range: 26 - 60 lbs Adoption Donation: $180 - $105 donation (Thank you to Todd Jacobson!) = $75 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip Fetty is looking a forever home, so he can be someone's boy! Foster Home Feedback 12/15/17: Merry Christmas from Fetty!! Fetty remains the most awesome dog ever! It has truly been a gift to have had the privilege of sharing our home with this sweetheart for almost 5 months. He is patient, kind, calm and a friend to every age human and fur buddy alike. Fetty has been completely seizure free here. His twice a day medication is not expensive (a 3 month supply costs $115 at Sam’s). A diet free of human food and controlled treats has kept him free of any allergy symptoms. He does not beg and knows some commands. When I picked Fetty up at the Evet in August he was almost catatonic after suffering hour-long grand mal seizures because his owner would not give him prescribed meds. With care and lots of love, he is a totally different dog. This guy is a survivor...not only did he survive those seizures, he also at some point suffered grievous injuries resulting in a crushed ear, loss of an eye and countless scars on his body. But neither those nor the seizures broke his forgiving nature. He is simply incredible. Fetty’s ideal home would be one without a lot of steps. His eye loss and the long-term effects of those seizures have made him cautious with steps and he is not a dog that can do any quick jumping into or out of vehicles. He climbs slowly by himself and is always happy when I give him a little boost. Fetty rarely barks, even when the doorbell rings. He doesn’t ever jump on people or counters. Because his medication makes him thirsty, he will need a home that can provide a noon bathroom break. This is Fetty in a nutshell. He is patiently waiting for his forever home. And until that happens we are loving every minute of every day 10/23/17: Mr. Fetty continues to be an absolute joy to have in our home. He has welcomed every dog that comes into our home to live or visit...and never a complaint or speck of trouble with any. He loves going for short walks, riding in the car, taking naps, watching foster brother Nyle retrieve and play endlessly and follows me as I move about the house, upstairs and down Last week Fetty was a big hit at Eventide where a room full of residents, family members and staff met him for pats on the head and ear scratches, as they learned all about 4 Luv of Dog Rescue. What an awesome ambassador for the Pit Bull breed! Fetty is such a gentle soul...a dog who has not had the best life...but still remains sweet and loving. 10/1/17: So excited to report Fetty is now keeping up with his big foster brothers on longer walks! Pretty sure he'll never be a jogging companion, but he is walking at a very normal pace. We are going to a nursing home tomorrow to make more friends 9/20/17: Calm, serene, quiet and a friend to all, describes this wonderful dog. I have had him 6 weeks while he has recovered from a devastating seizure. He could hardly walk when I picked him up at the e-vet and slowly he has healed to the point of having small bursts of the zoomies! Fetty kennels easily and when I know I will be gone more than 2 hours I will kennel him if I know he has recently drank a lot of water. Otherwise, I leave him out. Once he relearned and gained enough strength to climb my steps to the bedroom, he has slept quietly on a dog bed on the floor. He loves napping in his dog bed close to wherever I am. In the evening my husband allows Fetty on the basement couch while he watches tv. Otherwise, he can always be found napping and snoring softly in his dog bed. Since starting phenobarbital Fetty has been seizure free. He takes a pill every 12 hours so he needs a home where his family is able to keep to a schedule. The medication makes him thirsty and so he needs to have his water intake monitored and be let out after drinking. He has a huge bladder and regularly pees for an amazing 45 seconds at a time! I feel a home where his owner only works part-time or from home would be ideal. He would be a great dog for grandparents as he has been great with my grandkids. We go for 6 block walks several times a day; he loves to sniff for pee-mail and tell other dogs he has been out walking. Fetty is a very slow walker. If you are looking for a fitness walking partner Fetty is NOT that dog. He is a dog that radiates calmness and has taught me patience and the joy of a slower pace of life. From the vet records we received, we know Fetty at one point had some allergies and itchy skin. He has been perfect here and happily eats only his kibble...absolutely no dog treats or human food. I absolutely adore this big boy and if I were ready to stop fostering he would be my forever dog and I would be training him as a therapy dog as he would be awesome! 9/18/17: Fetty has a seizure disorder. His adopter will need to give his medication on-time and without fail to ensure Fetty stays happy and healthy. Fetty's medication costs less than $40/month and he will need semi-annual bloodwork done to ensure that his medication is at the right dose. Fetty does best in one-level homes with minimal stairs. His medication makes him thirsty, so adopters will need to monitor Fetty's water intake. Fetty does great with everyone he's met and is excited to find his forever home! Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, No children Mortimer wants someone to show him that the world is not scary. Foster Home Feedback * No children 1/3/18: Mortimer is a very special dog who is going to need a very special home who has the patience, love and understanding of an angel. He came to us a little over two months ago now and although he has shown improvement he is still an incredibly scared, shy, and insecure dog. Mortimer is terrified of humans and although he is showing some trust in me, his foster mom, he has shown little to no improvement with warming up to my husband. He displays absolutely no aggression, he's just frozen in fear in the presence of men, so his ideal home would be that of females-only. Because of his fearfulness of humans he should not go to a home with kids as their quick movements and loud noises will be too terrifying for him. When first meeting other animals, Mortimer is a little shy but warms up quickly to them (he has met both cats and dogs) and really takes comfort with other dogs around so should go to a home with another dog who is willing to show him that this world and it's humans are not so scary. Mortimer loves to cuddle up with our animals and it's been absolutely heart-bursting to see him run around with our female dog and play and show glimpses of being the goofy dog we know deep down he is. Mortimer kennels great at night and during the day when we're gone. We have never heard him bark but he has made some squealy noises in his kennel if he hears us leave with our dogs and he's had to stay home alone. Other than that he's as quiet as a mouse. Mortimer is also pretty well potty-trained as long as he is let out consistently. Mortimer is currently on anxiety meds so his adopter must be prepared for this monthly expense. Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check. Other: Spayed Female, Vaccinations current, Microchip, Fenced-in yard required, No children, NO other pets Ronnie is looking for a home all of her own! Foster Home Feedback * NO other pets, No children, Fenced-in yard required 12/11/17: Ronnie has grown into such a happy girl, despite all of the pain she's no doubt endured. It is so wonderful to see these positive changes happening. At first, Ronnie was not happy about using a kennel. Luckily, she has figured out that her kennel is a safe space, all just for her. If she wants to chew on a bone that is out in the living room, she will pick it and run (very enthusiastically) into her kennel to enjoy her bounty. Ronnie was initially an exuberant leash-puller; with some training and a walking harness, she has turned into the splendid walking partner. Ronnie is going to be an absolutely perfect companion for the right person, and we are so excited to meet you, whoever you are! 11/6/17: SO MANY CUDDLES! This dog is a perfect friend for those who dislike the cold. She prefers the warmth of indoors to long romps in the snow. Since the weather turned, Ronnie and I have spent many hours lounging by the fire, sewing and baking cookies. Every time I let her out of her kennel, she does this adorable slow, happy lolloping run through the house, and it makes me want to squish her face so much! We still have no accidents in the house, she's doing great in her kennel, and Ronnie is really honing her leash skills. 10/12/17: Ronnie is an amazing dog. So incredibly loving and sweet and cuddly and awesome. All this dog wants in life is to be with her people. We don't have any bathroom problems in the house; she does well in the kennel (after she settled into her heavy duty kennel), and she walks nicely on a leash. Ronnie's a great size - not too big, not too small. She rides nicely in the car, and we've been working on a little bit of anxiety when she's left alone in the car for brief periods of time. She's doing really well. When we first started, we couldn't even leave her alone in the car to run into the house to grab something we forgot. Last weekend, I was able to run in to the grocery store for coffee beans, and she did great. I'll continue to take her for very short trips to build her confidence. Oh, and Ronnie's seriously adorable. She's so cute that people have pulled their cars over to talk to us while we're walking in the neighborhood. So if anyone is looking for dog that can help them get a date, Ronnie would be perfect. 8/13/17 Volunteer Feedback: Ronnie had a kennel break at our house. She very interested in laying on the couch! She had 2 poop accidents but that was it. Otherwise did all her business outside. Ronnie doesn't love the kennel and will need a little work in this department. I was able to leave her in a metal kennel for roughly 25 minutes and although she was anxious, she did not bust out of it. Ronnie will need some positive reinforcements with the kennel. I think it wouldn't take her long to be comfortable in one. She is a lover and loves her people!! Ronnie is very content just hanging out with her family. She would be a pretty easy dog to have around once her fear of the kennel is relieved. And she is as cute as a button!! 8/12/17: Ronnie is a sweet lady who finds the world a little scary at times. Men especially can scare her, but with patience, she realizes they are friends. Ronnie will need a home who understands and can help her overcome her fears. Foster Home Feedback ** Needs fenced-in yard, No other pets, No children 9/29/17: It’s hard to explain how a picture can make you want to help, but as soon as I saw the picture of Iris online I knew we needed to help her. She came from an out of state pound where she ended up giving birth to seven puppies. She and her puppies had nowhere to go and it was heartbreaking seeing them all in the pound. After a few days of organizing transportation (including two flights from Pilots N Paws), they were here! A short time after arriving Iris became very sick and needed to go to the emergency vet for surgery. She had a horrible infection in her uterus and needed immediate surgery to save her life. She ended up staying at the vet for two days because of mild complications with the surgery, but she pulled through and everything was good again. Until she went to the vet again for a routine exam and it was discovered she was heartworm positive. Poor Iris has been through so much already and now this. She has been going through heartworm treatment for two months and has one more month left. The treatment is getting injections once a month to kill the heartworms. She has been doing very well with treatment. She needs to be on crate rest while she goes through the treatment which is not a big deal for her since she is already very mellow and laid back. Iris is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. We have fostered over 70 dogs and there’s something about Iris that has touched my heart. She’s only about 4 years old, but she has an old soul. She is very mellow and relaxed. She loves to hang out with her people and is not hyper or needy at all. She listens very well and is treat motivated so teaching her new things has been easy. Iris needs to go to a home with no other pets though. Some dogs just want to be the only pet and that is what Iris wants for her best life. She deserves all of the attention to herself. She does well on walks and if she sees other dogs she does not try and get to them. She just ignores them. She loves going for car rides and will sit in the back calmly and look out the window. Unfortunately, Iris does have some separation anxiety so she needs to go to a home with no shared walls. She has a special crate she stays in when we are not home and she does very well in it, but she does bark and whine when we leave. The crate is an extra strong metal crate that she cannot break out of. When she was in a weaker crate she was able to break out of it and chewed the wood trim of our door and window. Because of this, it is recommended she not be left out when no one is home. When we are home, she is super easy, does not bark or whine at all, and just wants to hang out with you on the couch or outside in the sunshine. Iris is truly a great dog and I am so thankful we were able to help her. If you have a home with no pets and are looking for an amazing dog, Iris is it. Foster Home Feedback 10/27/17: Donatella is a very unique looking dog. She is a gray and white merle mini Schnauzer. The merle gene is a dilution gene, causing her to have a light coat and one blue eye. She is a very nice, gentle dog. Her favorite activities are tug of war, going for walks outside, cuddling up in her dog bed when she wants alone time and sitting on or near her favorite person, as she enjoys a good ear scratch and belly rub. Donatella has been diagnosed with diabetes over a year ago. Due to this, she does require a special diabetic food from the Vet and 2 doses of insulin per day. The insulin shots are very easy to administer and she tolerates them very well. Also, due to diabetes, cataracts have formed limiting her vision. Donatella is highly adaptable and within a week she was cruising around the house like she lived here forever. Not going to lie, there were a few times that she bumped into a wall or some furniture, but she is a very quick learner. She also takes allergy medication as needed for itchy skin and a joint supplement due to a knee that can slip out of joint (luxating patella) which causes her to limp from time to time. She does require occasional grooming to keep her beard and eyebrows in check. Donatella is both house trained and kennel trained. We had an adjustment period where she was quite anxious when I left her alone, but she seems to be adjusting as she gets used to my daily routine. Diffusing a calming essential oil also seems to help. Donatella is super curious of both my cats and dogs. She does not give them much personal space when they are within her eyesight, which does annoy my dogs—but she also understands their cues and is getting better at backing off. She does get a little jealous when I am giving another dog attention but seems to be getting used to having to share my time with others. I think Donatella would be a great companion dog for someone that is home often or in a home with a companion dog or cat. She seems to be less anxious when she has company. Donatella is such a loving dog. It has been a joy getting to know her the past two weeks. She has so much love and loyalty to give to some lucky family.
