Posted Breed: Alaskan Malamute (medium coat). Adoption fee is $150, this dog is approx. 5 yrs old and is about 98.3 pounds All of our Husky/Northern breeds require a home visit for us to check out the fence and give tips on containment if needed. You can quicken your adoption process by sending us some yard pics, focusing on the fence lines after you send your application. Please keep in mind if you want to own a husky you need to be open to the fact that containing this dog may require you to install a hot wire system (cost approx $100) this is quite often needed to preventing digging climbing or chewing through fences. A Hot wire is typically the best route to start with for a piece of mind. Some of our dogs we will require this prior to adoption due to known escape habits or the type of fencing you have. Installation is simple and can be done in under 2 hours on most yards. Northern breeds are beautiful dogs but are also a challenge and demanding and can be very destructive and hard to contain when there needs are not met. Please learn a little more about the breed on our home page. Also we likely have other Huskies or Malamutes for adoption find out by visiting www.petangelsrescue.org. The adoption fee is $150. Posted Breed: Alaskan Malamute. Thank you for stopping by to see me! Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting. If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <underdogrescue@petml.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending! DOB: 3/22/2016 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Yes Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Requires a fenced yard: Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area I am Silver and I am new to rescue. I am going to be 2 years old in March and I weigh about 50 pounds. Even though I'm a young pup, I've had a rough past and I am looking for a home that can provide me with lots of patience and understanding. Right now, I am very shy and fearful around people, particularly men. I have become increasingly comfortable around the house as time goes on, so my bravery is working! Once I warm up to a person, I enjoy lying quietly next to you and often fall asleep. When I'm not sleeping, I am constantly watching and listening to everything. This is a new life to me and there is just so much to take in that I get easily startled. When people walk around, I get the feeling I am going to be chased, even if someone is going away from me. I simply shy away in a different direction. I'm hoping with time that I will understand I am now safe and loved and these behaviors will disappear. Maybe you can help me! Despite some of my fears, I am a little bit of a trouble maker and need supervision for the time being. You could call me a counter surfer! I love to get on a counter to look for food and also pull items down sometimes. I guess I'm not supposed to be doing that, so we are working on it! I thought I was helping? I also thought I was supposed to be right next to my people during meals. I guess I don't quite understand personal space yet either. Oops. I am shy when a treat is offered to me and am sort of picky. At least I'll keep you on your toes! Looking out the windows is something I enjoy. It's nice to watch the world around me. Being around dogs helps me a lot and I do best when they are near. I follow my dog friends and watch their behaviors to learn what I should do. I do better with dogs than people right now, so will definitely need a fur sibling. I howl when I'm left alone, so having a friend will also help me know I've got some company. I have met some cats and am interested in them; we are working on slow introductions, so the jury is still out on whether or not I like cats. I am working on my dog skills and currently learning how to go to the bathroom outside and how to walk on a leash. Sometimes I have a little potty accident when I'm being pet, not sure if it's excitement or fear yet. It's all a work in progress and we are all learning about me! I am learning about bones and toys and am sort of interested so far. Not really sure what to do with them yet. I'm also getting comfortable with doorways. They are so strange, like something is going to fall on me. Did you ever have a doorway fall on you? I am really a wonderful pup and I know that with time, patience, and a loving family, I will blossom into the dog I am meant to be! Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** ADOPTION EVENTS: Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/ Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN. All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. I am a delightful, gentle, and playful pup and love children, adults and other dogs. I am content sitting quietly while watching activities or I can be an instigator of play. I love the dog park and could stay all day! I will even race the other dogs in the back yard. Every day! I would do best with another dog in the home with me, but I may be fine if I am with a very active family. I LOVE toys and have made a hobby out of shredding them. Oops! I get so excited each time I get a new toy. I hope you have an endless supply for me! I just learned that I can jump into the car all by myself. Riding in the car is a lot of fun and watching out the window is like nothing I've ever experienced. Is the earth moving or am I moving? I guess no one will ever know. I am house trained and working on my leash skills. I don't require a kennel and don't do any damage to furniture or other items. Only toys :) I did recently hear there is an underground dog movement to destroy vacuum cleaners and I think I want to join! I really don't like them. What is their purpose anyway?! I love hugs and respond well to praise. I do prefer to sleep alone most of the time. Though, I will occasionally surprise my foster parent by wanting to sleep on the bed. I get very excited and talk to my foster mom when she cooks for me. I dance all around the kitchen for her! Really, I just like to be wherever you are. I grab the attention of people everywhere I go. I mean, look how stunning I am! I'm even more breathtaking in person. I am sure to be a wonderful pup in your home and hope we can meet soon! This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void. We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee. Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** ADOPTION EVENTS: Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Breed: Alaskan Malamute
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Alaskan Malamute (medium coat). All of our foster dogs are kept in individual homes. Go to our website Bayareasiberian.org to get the foster home contact if you do not see it in the bio. Charlie is a little shy at first meeting, but he warms up to you with just a little bit of patience and maybe a few treats do the trick. He h is a typical Alaskan Malamute. he needs to be useful and have a purpose that he shares with his master. He is full of energy, playful, fun and ready to go. He likes care rides, walks and play. He starts off on his walk pulling just a little, but then settles down. Charlie really does not want to be alone, he is a people dog, but because of his Sheppard background he wants to protect his owner and their property. He is respectful of your belongings. He sits and waits for his food bowl to be place on the ground before attacking it with gusto. He is still working on his basic commands like DOWN, STAY/WAIT so some basic obedience schooling would be a good and fun thing to do as he wants to please. Charlie also loves to be brushed and handled ...he just needs someone who can set the boundaries and hold him to it.. Children should be older teenagers. No children and no other dogs in the family. No small animals such as chickens, rabbits or cats please though, pretty please. Go to BAYAREASIBERIAN.org for contact information on the foster dog.
